Numbing Pain

Bittersweet pain chills my entire body,
The razor blade pressed against my wrist,
I've stopped for so long now here I am again,
Savoring the sweet sensation that surrounds me like a mist.

It feels so good to let it all go, to feel this once again,
Burning pain as the blade travels and tips,
Slicing through all the sadness, anger, and despair,
A pleasant but numb smile touches my lips.

Unshed tears beginning to sting my eyes,
Blood welling up and dripping from the cuts made,
My wrist burning and throbbing,
A burning that felt like it always stayed.

Tears made their way down my face,
The pain wasn't enough, I needed more,
I wanted it to numb me past my heart,
Numb me past my soul, all the way to my core.

Grabbing the liquid I had sitting there the whole time,
Biting my lip I begin pouring it on my skin,
Screams break the still silence that filled the room,
All the emotion no longer held within.

It worked, it's all gone,
Surrendering to the numb abyss,
I say farewell for now until next time,
Sitting on the ground I stay in that numb bliss.
