Nokia 5230: A Phone no One will Remember

There are a lot of mobile phones throughout history that have left a mark on the industry. From the early Nokia series, to the Blackberry handsets, people have used them and remembered them. Unfortunately the Nokia 5230 is part of the group that will not see the light of day for too long.
Lost in the Multitude

There are a lot of mobile phones throughout history that have left a mark on the industry. From the early Nokia series, to the Blackberry handsets, people have used them and remembered them. The Iphone epitomizes this fact; it is a mobile phone that has grabbed the attention and the imagination of a whole world, and even after countless tries, still has not let go of its crown as the best-selling touchscreen mobile phone. The rest of the mobile phones, those that do not have the same impact as the well-developed ones, usually fade to obscurity in less than a year.

Unfortunately for Nokia, the Nokia 5230 is part of the latter group, the ones that will not see the light of day for too long. This mobile phone simply does not have the staying power nor the appeal that the top touchscreen phones have. And so, this is one mobile phone that will eventually get lost in the multitude of phones out in the market today.

Some Good Parts

The fate of the Nokia 5230 is sad, especially since it does have a few positive aspects; some worthy of being adopted by an upgraded version, if ever Nokia decides to revive this line. One of these positive parts is the music player. It can play a variety of formats but the most impressive aspect is the fact that one does not need to open the music player application every time one wants to hear his / her music files. There is an application that allows users to play directly from the front screen, making playing music easier.

Another aspect of the Nokia 5230 is its social networking aspect. The people from Nokia have decided to make social networking a major part of their design and thus, they decided to speed up access to these sites. This makes checking updates in Facebook or MySpace that much easier, and that much faster.

The Reality

Despite these positive parts, the Nokia 5230 is simply too plain to stand out and in an industry like this (where manufacturers are churning out new mobile phones constantly), a mobile phone that does not stand out faces a bleak reality. The reality is that it will unlikely be used or even seen by a lot of people. There are just far too many better phones out there. The Nokia 5230 might be a mobile phone that, on it own, is a good bargain but placed beside the likes of the Iphone or a Blackberry Bold and it does not stand a chance.
