Nokia Mobile Phones - Market Leader, Undoubtedly

Nokia is the market leader and the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. This Finnish giant has been around for more than two decades and has expertise in mobile phone production and in mixing Internet and communications industries. It has a market share of 38% which far exceeds its nearest rival, Samsung's market share of 20%.
Nokia produces mobile phones for all network services, GSM, CDMA and W-CDMA. Nokia's integration with Internet allows the consumers to experience Maps, Music, Messaging, Media, Games and GPS facilities. Nokia's might and huge revenue base can be understood by the fact that in 2004, Nokia's involvement in Finland's GDP was an astounding 3.5% and had nearly a quarter of Finland's exports in 2003. All of these facts and figures point towards one thing, Nokia's might and outlay is hard to beat. The company has research and development units located in many parts across the world. It also sells products in many countries either through self setup stores or through various subsidiaries.

Nokia phones are known for their amazing display quality, style statement, designing and most importantly their unique features which sets these handsets apart from the competition and thus creating a huge gap in market dominance. Other reasons for its dominance are its expertise, knowledge of the telecommunications sector and wide array of handsets availability. Since Nokia has been around for a long time it knows what the consumers need and how it can fulfill those needs. It has a large customer base and many associated companies which provide assistance to it to understand consumer behaviour and expectations. It has knowledge of the sector so it offers cutting edge technologies without much glitches which isn't the case with every other brand. Nokia also makes handsets for every segment and category such as budget phones, medium priced phones, high priced phones, smartphones, touchscreens, music specific phones etc.

As we move on with time, the technology is getting better and better. From what we started out at highly bulky phones, we've come down to very light phones measuring a few hundred grams. This explains how people desire newer technology to pave way for older technologies. Now it is possible for one to play games, watch TV, surf the web, check E-mails, stay in contact with people far away without much of an effort, view people's faces when being on a call etc. Nokia has been one of the front runner in this regard. They've not shyed away from making advancements even though their previous handset hadn't done well. This has been their most interesting aspect as they keep challenging and bettering themselves which in turn proves to be a great factor for consumers as they get better mobile phones to buy and choose from.

Lately, they've started offering mobile Internet content and also launched a website meant for phone Internet users. That site receives hundred million visits a month. They also created a store called OVI store where the users can go and purchase anything for their mobile phone from. Besides purchasing and downloading content, users can also connect with their friends and family to share photos, use Flickr photo site owned by Yahoo. Other things which can be viewed are maps, mail, N-gage games for S60 devices etc.

Nokia mobile phones keep getting better and better with time and it is very hard for one handset manufacturer to beat the monopoly and dominance that is set up by Nokia's ever evolving technological expansion. New handsets which would even increase its might are the X6, E72, N97 mini to name a few.
