No Title Currently - Prologue
Okay. I usually give titles when I finish a story, but I haven't finished this story. I post most of my stories when I finish them but I am giving this a try. I am going to post the chapters as I write them - I know...bear with me - I hope you enjoy and I will try and post 1-2 a week. Enjoy!!
I easily slid the key in the lock and twisted in one smooth movement. I heard the click of the lock and slowly twisted the knob while pushing on the door. It opened with a creaky protest, revealing my new life in Austin, Texas. My very first apartment. The living room came into my view first, empty and carpeted with a window out looking the Texas. The small kitchen was attached to it, all the bare essentials in place, a hallway led me to a bathroom which was opposite of my room. Nothing more, nothing less, and completely mine. I ran my hair through my stick straight, shoulder length, brown hair and smiled when my cell phone buzzed announcing my mother's call.
"Hello?"
"Hey Sweetie! We are finally here."
"Okay. I'll be down in a minute. See ya."
"Bye. Love you!"
I rolled my eyes at my mother's words, and pushed the key in my pocket and heading out the door. As soon as I was in the elevator I jammed the level one button and waited patiently for the bing. Thankfully it didn't take long since I was on the second floor and before I knew it I was outside greeting my family. My sister, Maggy, was grinning ear from ear doing a happy dance when I came down. My mother, Margrett, swatted her on the head, an unsaid warning hanging on her face as my father, Mike, smiled at me a sad smile but one full of pride. We all made our way toward the back of the truck and began to unload my things - one by one. An hour later and I sat down in my (finally) furnished apartment with a jungle of boxes surrounding me, while my mother hugged me one last time.
"Are you sure that you don't need help getting your things in order?" She asked me, reluctant to leave.
"I can handle it. Now go home and give Maggy the thing she has been dancing about for weeks - my room. I love you...all of you," I pointly looked at Maggy when I said 'all of you' because at times she didn't believe me.
"We love you to and are very proud of you. Bye Anna," my father kissed my cheek and began to heard my mother and Maggy to the door.
"Bye!" I called, as he closed the door, taking my old life with him.
I put my dainty hand on my hips while I looked around the apartment at the number of boxes and sighed.
"Where to begin?" I muttered to myself and attacked the first box I saw, ripping the tape off.
Three very long, torturous hours later and I had completed the task of getting all of my things in order. My back ached from bending over too many times, and my stomach grumbled reminding me that I hadn't eaten much that day, but I blamed that on nerves. I rummaged my fridge and came up with a half eaten sandwich from Subway that I had bought early. I grabbed a glass of milk and headed over to my couch to get a much-needed relaxation time.
