Bollea, 17, is serving an eight month sentence in jail after he pleaded no contest to causing a car crash that has left his friend in a coma. Bollea is in a county jail in Clearwater, Florida and despite being convicted in an adult court he is being kept segregated from the other inmates because he is a minor. A request to change his living conditions while in jail was denied Tuesday but a judge. Bollea claims that being in solitary confinement has caused him "unbearable anxiety." Bollea has also been ordered to complete 500 hours of community service and will be on probation for 5 years. His license has been revoked for 3 years and he reportedly must pay $6,500 to the Clearwater Police Department as well as $450 in court fees.

Bollea was behind the wheel at the time of the crash that left his buddy, 22-year old John Graziano, in critical condition. Bollea’s car slammed into a palm tree in Clearwater, Florida on August 26. At the time of the crash Bollea was driving approximately 100 miles per hour and it was raining. Initially the accident was attributed to speed and slick roads, but it was later reported that Bollea had been drinking on the day of the accident.

Bollea escaped with minimal injuries, while Graziano suffered a broken skull and has been comatose since the accident and will likely need lifelong care. A guardian has sued the Bollea family on behalf of Graziano to help pay for his care. Bollea has said, "No matter what has been said, every day I think about John. There will never be a day I forget about this."
