The most popular being that they'd like to put it out to the world that they've found love and are going to start on life's journey with that special someone. The wedding announcement comes as a form of taking the blessings of all their well wishers and hoping to make a success of their marriage. Other than this reason, there might be several other personal ones citing why people prefer to use this medium. But we are not going to get into that right now.
