New York - The City That Never Sleeps

New York is the city that never sleeps. It is a city that houses millions of people in high rises and slums.
Meet New York, the city of fast cars and faster people! This is the city that boasts of its sense of timelessness. The city of lights, the city that never sleeps. This is it. This is New York. Where else can you catch a snowflake on your nose whilst standing on the roof of the Empire State Building? Where else can you rub shoulders with people from every culture, every country? Where else can you feel the vibrations of the city in every step you take?

New York is to the US what Paris is to France. It is a city that houses millions of people, in high rises and slums, in Manhattan and Brooklyn. New York has been a tourist destination for many decades. Its sense of urgency, its fascinating history, its superb architecture and mix of cultures makes it a must-see for every person. New Yorkers can never live anywhere else, since New York is an addiction that gets into the blood! This city has long ceased to be an American city; it is an international city.

You don’t go to New York to have a relaxing vacation. You go there to experience life, to watch people, to observe, and sight see. You go there to admire it! This city has everything that the people of this civilization need - an abundance of museums, theaters, art galleries, book stores, historical sites, not to mention incomparable architecture and a multitude of sport and cultural events. This is a city that transcends religion, race, beauty and time.

It’s impossible to spin a tale about this city, even in thousands of words. It’s not about the place; it’s about the feel of it! On the first visit, one tends to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices available. Everything has its own charm. You can decide to sit in one of the coffee cafés, and people-watch. Everything is a must-see; at the corner of every street, there are mysteries and surprises. Come across Spiderman in the subway, and then go for a picnic with squirrels in Central Park. This is the land of possibilities! There are many places to visit in New York. The best of them are:

Broadway: Broadway is the most famous theatre in the world. You can attend a performance on Broadway and get a glimpse of life in the world of theatre! Or else, you can simply visit, and observe the settings. Touch the legend with the tip of your fingers. Feel the buzz as the curtain rises. It’s definitely worth the trip!

Empire State Building: Situated at the corner of the 34th Street and 5th Avenue, the Empire State Building is one of the most well-known buildings in the world. At a height of 1454 feet, this building has lived in the hearts of people as the highest skyscraper in the world for four decades! View New York from the observation platform on the 86th floor of this building. This is life!

Statue of Liberty: A symbol of freedom for the Americans, this copper statue stands holding a torch in her hand as she looks over the New York Harbor. To visit this gentle lady, you can take the ferry from the Manhattan Harbor. Look at her smile, and read what is written on her base. You’ll understand what freedom means to the Americans!

Central Park: With its 840 acres, this green lung of Manhattan was created in 1853. This is where the fast pace of life is replaced by tranquility. Take a stroll, and listen to the singing of the birds. Or you can have a picnic, and watch the squirrels. One also finds a zoo, two museums, playgrounds and sports areas for the whole family.

South Street Seaport: An enchanting place, where the ships are reflected in the skyscrapers. Linger here. Have a coffee, and observe the pace of life.

How did the Big Apple actually get its name? Apparently, it happened in the fifties, when jazz first made an appearance in the New York! The jazz musicians playing for the first time in New York clubs were so tense, that they had a big lump in their throats… as big as an apple! The name stuck, and until today, New York is the Big Apple!

Walk on the streets of New York. Feel the vibrations. Go with the flow. Embrace life.
