Ellen heads off on what should be her honeymoon alone, the man she'd chosen as her life partner had let her down in the worst fashion. But she was determined to enjoy two weeks at a Mediterranean resort, especially as she still had to pay off most of the wedding. At the airport she's informed that the job she had as fiance's PA has also ended.

Depressed and alone, her isolation, her self-pity is rudely disrupted by an entertainment worker at the hotel, Jan, pronounced Yan, from Belgium. He is everything that she despised in a person, but for some reason he seems to be breaking down her defenses.
