The New

Relationship in the middle of a transformation…
Yesterday seemed easy
When you kissed me I could smile
You were quiet
and I stayed pale,
and we didn't fight.

Easier than the day before
That I threw your hands from mine
In such a rage
Just like you,
felt locked up in a cage.

Different to the recent times
That I questioned who we were
If you were really perfect for me
If you didn't make me smile
wondering what we could be.

We're never going to be them again
It won't be easy to let go
But maybe this is what's true
We still laugh,
We just need to embrace the new.
