'New Moon' Covers A New Dawn in Opening Weekend
'The Twilight' sequel has wolfed down over $140.7 million in just first three days of opening.

'New Moon' earned the third place in the list of all-time domestic chart and stands just behind the opening weekend for the Batman blockbuster 'The Dark Knight' that grossed $158.4 million and the 2007 release 'Spider-Man 3' that racked in $151.1 million.
'New Moon' is the only movie that has entered the top 10 all time openings outside the busiest Hollywood movie time, the summer. The previous release of Summit Entertainment 'Twilight' had earned $69.6 million when it was released last year during the same time. The next release of the Twilight Saga based on the novels authored by Stephenie Meyer, is expected to arrive next June 30, that is, during the heart of summer.
The estimate of ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at the U.S. and Canadian theaters released show top 10 movies as:
- 'The "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" ~ $140.7 million.
- "The Blind Side" ~ $34.5 million.
- "2012" ~ $26.5 million.
- "Planet 51" ~ $12.6 million.
- "Disney's A Christmas Carol" ~ $12.2 million.
- "Precious: Based on the Novel ~ $11 million
- `Push' by Sapphire" ~ $11 million.
- "The Men Who Stare at Goats" ~ $2.8 million.
- "Couples Retreat" ~ $2 million.
- "The Fourth Kind" ~ $1.7 million.
- "Law Abiding Citizen" ~ $1.6 million.
