New Generation Film-Making History: 'Avatar' Impresses Even the Critics
If you thought that James Cameron achieved his 'all time high' career peak with his 1996 blockbuster 'Titanic', you may have another thought coming... His new potential blockbuster movie 'Avatar' releases to the general public next week. Yesterday's screening left the reviewers and critics in awe of his vision, cinematography and technical expertise in animation. Here's what all the 'Avatar' critics had to say...

'Avatar' the Movie
'Avatar' trailers may or may not have impressed you, depending on your preference or otherwise towards animation, but here are a few things that definitely will.
- 'Avatar' has surpassed all other expensively made movies, including the movie '2012', with an expense budget of about USD 400 million dollars. With such a huge investment in almost untested waters, 'Avatar' represents a huge investment risk for the '20th Century Fox' studio.
- 'Avatar' represents the future of movies worldwide, with its new advances in the field of special effects, animation, and 3D technology. Early viewers of the movie claimed that the movie was beyond comparison when it came to technique, surreal visual effects and fantastic computer generated animation effects that brought forth real expressions from the characters.
- The best thing about this film (Avatar) is that it comes without a built-in fan following, like the fan base built up by books for films like 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings'. The huge cost is thus completely unjustified when it comes to prudent investment thinking. Yet, it seems that all the people closely involved in 'Avatar' are confident of its box office success.
All the early reviews for the movie 'Avatar' show positive vibes towards the movie, indicating strongly that the movie is well on its way to become the next 'Titanic movie'. It seems to have it all, animation, action, adventure and romance, set in unfamiliar and alien forest terrain, giving the movie a unique look. Here is what some of the 'those who matter' people have to say.
- Show biz newspaper, 'The Hollywood Reporter' indulged in no mincing of words and simply proclaimed the movie to be a "jaw-dropping wonder".
- From the trade press 'Variety', Todd Mccarthy has this to say about 'Avatar', "...delivers unique spectacle, breathtaking sights, narrative excitement and an overarching anti-imperialist, back-to-nature theme that will play very well around the world..."
- Mike Goodridge of 'Screen International' claims that the movie 'Avatar' "...once again takes cinema to a new level of remarkable spectacle ... ". His prize was more emphatic in his claim that the movie was "an unprecedented marriage of technology and storytelling".
- Show biz print magazine 'Empire' writer Chris Hewitt went verbal and claimed that the masterpiece named 'Avatar' deserved 4 stars when seen in two dimension and is a "full-on five star experience" when seen in 3D.
- Mark Brown from 'The Guardian' was also all prizes for the movie and could not help but recount his favorite recollection of the movie. In his own words, he loved the politics in the movie, especially the stage where 'the deranged general leading the attack, with echoes of George Bush, declares: "Our survival relies on pre-emptive action. We will fight terror with terror."'.
- Last but not the least, Wendy Ide from 'The Times' found 'Avatar' to be "an overwhelming, immersive spectacle".
