New Beginnings - Ch. 4
Truth comes out, memories churns, evil lurks... :(
I woke up to soothing music. Glancing around the bedroom, nothing was playing the music, but then I noticed it came from the other side of the door; Aaron. I didn’t want to face him, he now knows that I have feelings for him. I slowly got up from the bed, then walked to the mirror to see myself look ugly, but I actually look gorgeous. The demonic powers must help keep the complexion looking good, all that crying should’ve made me all, like eww, red eyes, stuffy nose, but I look absolutely beautiful. I walked over to the door, and stopped in my tracks. Aaron sounds like either he’s talking to someone or himself.
"I feel like a complete idiot," he growled at himself. "She told me no, but I still did it. Now she probably hates my fucking guts, all because of my stupidity. I shouldn’t be a tutor, I’m not ready for the responsibility yet, it seems," he heavily sighed. "All that pain she went through because of that guy, and now she has feelings for me, I’m not worth anyone’s time, too busy working to actually have a life."
The way he sounded, made me feel horrible. Then I heard a pop noise, then nothing else. I gripped the door knob hard and slowly turned the knob so the door can open. I peek out, seeing Aaron sitting on the couch, watching television something in hand. I took a deep breath and slowly walked towards him. I walked by the tea spot I dropped, he must’ve cleaned up the glass and tea, because it was now spotless.
"Aaron, I’m sorry about everything; the tea glass and me being an idiot. You’re right, you are the teacher," I softly said.
He must’ve not heard me, he’s still watching television. My patience started to run thin, and I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Hmm, Amanda, what’s happening?" he slurred his words together.
"What’s wrong with you?" I looked at him, seeing a bottle; vodka. "God, and I thought you were different!" I angrily said and stormed off to the kitchen.
"Why would you say that?" he wobbled closer to me.
"Get away from me! You’re no better than Jeff," I yelled.
Something must’ve clicked when I said my ex-boyfriend‘s name.
I let my heart get in the way of too many things, now this. I don’t need this, but it seems like I’m attracted to Aaron, but he hurt my feelings.
"Amanda, I’m sorry," he mumbled.
I glanced towards him, seeing pain in his face. He sat down on a kitchen chair, and just sat there.
"I’m sorry about everything, about Jeff, about my rude behavior, about me. You’re probably right, I’m not better than Jeff," he whispered.
I stood there, my heart telling me to go to him. So I walked to the other kitchen chair and sat across of Aaron.
"Aaron, you’re different than Jeff. Jeff was an asshole who wanted only one thing from women. You at least apologized after your mistake, and you want the best for me, not being a demonic wild child. If we’re going to live together, can we work together, not being too controlling, and no vodka or other alcoholic beverages," I softly said.
He looks up to me, and his face became happier. He glanced at the bottle and sat it on the table.
"You’re right, I’m sorry. I’ll be better off without this shit," he quickly said. "I’m sorry I forced to see your memories," he got quiet, then he whispered. "Do you have feelings for me?"
I started to blush, "sorta."
"Well, it’s better than none at all. I will behave myself around you, I’ll promise that," then he slid his hand onto mine.
"Thank you, you’re a very nice person."
Aaron got up and walked towards the sink, then dumped the vodka down the drain. Then he walked over to me again and grabbed a hold of my hand.
"You don’t mind me touching you?" he whispered.
"As long as you don’t hurt me," I whispered back.
There was a flicker in his eyes whenever he touches me. I wonder if we are good for each other. My fingers twirled around his fingers, and then he squeezed my hand.
"Aaron, do you think it’s meant to be, like us becoming together?" I asked him.
"Maybe," then he made me get out of the seat. "We should work on your training for awhile, before we might do something stupid."
I smiled and he went into the living room. I followed him and we both sat on the couch together. He grabbed my hand and smiled.
"Alright, you got fire to appear by…"
"By being upset," I muttered.
"Okay, so try thinking of a memory that makes you feel differently, might make a power appear."
I closed my eyes and focused hard, trying to think of a memory that makes me happy. Then I appeared at my parents’ house.
"Merry Christmas, Amanda!" mom picked me up.
"Hey, baby. We have a present for you," then dad pulled out a wrapped gift.
"Thanks you," I gently grabbed it and opened it. "Cool! I wanted the Nintendo 64, thanks both of you!" I happily said.
This memory is when I was ten years old. I was so small and helpless, and so nice seeing mom’s and dad’s happy faces. I’m so excited I started to dance around, trying to put the game system together.
"Amanda…" echoed a voice, Aaron’s.
I opened my eyes and noticed I felt different.
"Amanda, you disappeared," Aaron excitedly said.
I looked down at myself, seeing Aaron’s hand in mid-air, because I am holding it.
"Wow, I can be invisible."
"I’m proud of you, Amanda," Aaron proudly said, which made my heart beat throb.
I turned back to being visible again, and smiled. Conquering two talents in one day made me smile.
"Lets try one more for today, try a different emotion."
I closed my eyes again, but this time darkness came swiftly. My heart jumped, afraid what’s happening to me. Something pushed me, then something pushed me again.
"Stop it!" I shouted.
Suddenly I am thrown into the air, then fell onto the hard floor. Giggling noises came from the background.
"Who’s there?" I yelled.
"I am you, the evil side of you," the voice giggled again.
"That can’t be right."
Suddenly a light came on to me, then a shadow moved. My heart started to race, and a figure came into the light. She’s tall, slender, brown hair with blonde highlights, and her eyes are bloody red. She looked exactly like me, but my eyes are green.
"I am you, and you are me. One day, we’ll rule this demonic realm together. You can’t control your fears, that where you get into trouble," evil me laughed. "Poor Aaron won’t like you then, he’d be the one that would kill you."
"That’s not true, he wouldn’t kill me, he wouldn’t let you ever come out of me," I angrily said.
"Well, don’t worry, sooner or later I’ll come," she giggled again then went back into the shadows.
I fluttered my eyes open to see Aaron holding me tight against him. My hands are clamped into his that I started to lose circulation in my fingers.
"Amanda, oh God you’re fine. You started to try to attack me, so I had to restrict your movements. What the hell happened?" he demanded.
"Evil part of me wants to come out. I’m afraid, Aaron. I’m afraid I’m going to hurt the people I love. She means business, and I can’t let her out," then I buried my face in Aaron’s chest. "Help me!" I cried.
"Shh, don’t worry, I won’t let her come out. Amanda, you’ll be fine, nothing bad won’t happen to you or your loved ones. I’ll stop her if she would ever come out," he strongly said.
"Even if you’d have to kill me?" I muttered.
Aaron didn’t answer my question. All I could do is train hard, hoping that the beast would stay inside me, never come out and show the evil me.
"Amanda, do you want supper? We can go out to get something," he asked.
"We could," I sniffled.
"You’ll be fine, I’m here."
"I know, but I’m just so frightened that I may hurt you."
Aaron tightened his grip around me, giving me all the protection needed to keep me safe in my own mind. Then he slowly got up and we headed out the door.
"I feel like a complete idiot," he growled at himself. "She told me no, but I still did it. Now she probably hates my fucking guts, all because of my stupidity.
