New Beginnings - Ch.3
Memories...love...hidden secrets...
I put all my new clothes in my dresser, which Aaron graciously let me have his spare bedroom. Then I placed my coats and sweaters in the closet, sorting them by color.
"Amanda, training time," his voice smoothly echoed through the room, which gave me goose bumps.
"Alright, be there in a minute," I quickly replied, tossing the rest of the miscellaneous items onto my bed.
I entered the living room, and Aaron is sitting on the couch, waiting for me.
"Take a seat, we need to go over basic rules."
I nodded and took a seat in the chair across of him, for safety precautions.
"Alright, first of all, never tell humans demons exists, that would make things hell for us. The humans would find us, and then kill us. Next, you should keep to yourself around here, demons in this town is very upsetting with ‘young’ ones. They are older, and they think that young ones shouldn’t be around the town, but they’re still stuck in the old century. Lastly, if the young one that started training fails, they must die because they won’t be able to control their power," he said then nodded.
"Alright, so what would I be learning?"
"How to control your power, how to use your power, any special abilities, fighting training, and other training exercises."
I nodded my head and stared at my feet. He is really nice, but I don’t know if I can handle it.
"Is there something wrong?" Aaron asked.
I quickly jerked my head up and shook my head. "No-no. I’m perfectly fine, just thinking a lot lately."
"Mmm," he murmured. "Okay, let’s start working on basic training moves. But first, we need to figure out how or where you get your powers from."
I blinked a couple times, not knowing where I can grasp my powers. I just stared at Aaron with confusion.
"Well, we can try emotions; sometimes anger, happiness, depression can affect a young demon’s powers."
I bit back on my tongue, wanting to start yelling at him. Young this, young that, God, I’m not THAT young!
"You’re starting to catch on flame, Amanda. You’re doing something right!" he happily said.
I glanced a my hands, seeing balls of fire growing in my hands. I had to smile for my sweet success.
"Okay, just always remember that. Now try something else," he encouraged.
I sat there in the chair, couldn’t think of anything. He watched me, his eyes glowing with fascination and encouragement. I just stared into his eyes, my heart felt like it throbs differently. I pulled away from his stare and glanced down to the carpet.
"Amanda, are you alright? One minute you’re doing everything great, wonderful I should say, then the next, you’re pulling back your potential. I know something is bothering you, I can feel your vibe flickering back and forth," he softly said.
"I don’t know, I feel like I’m going to fail being a demon. I don’t think I am demon material, I’m probably better off somewhere else," I muttered.
I covered my face with my hands, and stifled back tears. Then cool fingers tightened around my wrists, pulling away from my face.
"Amanda, you are not going to fail. I don’t take young ones that I know will fail. You are not going to fail, look at your family, they are powerful demons, and that is the reason I took you, you’ll be great. Don’t worry about failing, because failure isn’t in you," he whispered.
I glanced at my hands, which was in Aaron’s hands. His cool hands makes my hands feel cool, comfortable. I let out a huge breathe and tried to let go all bad vibes.
"There you go, bad vibes are bad," he softly said. "Do you want tea? It helps with vibes," he offered.
"Thanks, uh, sir," I mumbled.
"Please don’t call me sir. Call me Aaron, I hate when people calls me sir, makes me feel old."
"Sorry, didn’t know."
Aaron left the living room and went into the kitchen. I slowly got up from the chair and walked around the room. There were books, papers, and pamphlets scattered everywhere on a desk. I picked up the book and the title said Young Demon Children. I glanced at the back and it was about children learning demonic powers in early childhood, uncontrollable powers, and mishaps in development. I sat the book down on the desk and shuddered. Then I found a picture laying under a pamphlet. I picked it up and the picture consisted of a child in the woods; using its powers against nature, catching trees on fire. The scary part of the picture instead of having normal eyes like Aaron and I do, it had red eyes. I placed the picture down, and somebody tapped on my shoulder. My heart started to race, knowing who it is. I slowly turned around and Aaron gave me a glass of tea.
"You found my work, hope you read some of it?" he smoothly said, not sounding angry, but amused.
"Yeah, but I thought demon powers come out when you turn twenty-one? But this book says childhood instances. Can that actually happen?"
"Yes, sometimes abusive families it occurs often. This picture here," the one I saw minutes ago. "This boy was abused so bad, that his powers flared when he was twelve. The thing that I don’t get, his family isn’t demonic, but human. So something must’ve happened to make him as a demon, unless his DNA got screwed up? I’m like a scientist in my free time, trying to solve these anomalies which been occurring more frequently the past three years. This boy was finally caught, and they contained him until he could control his powers. They placed him with a good family, and now he’s a nice, kind kid. Sometimes humans should die, but they’re like our counterparts I guess."
"Could that be me, if I like, can’t control my powers?" I asked.
"Very well can be, but it won’t happen to you, I won’t let it," he smiled.
I softly smirked, trying to be calm and friendly. I took a sip of tea and smiled widely.
"Green tea, my favorite," I happily said.
"Good, because it’s my favorite too. Now, would you like to train more so we can grasp the concept of your powers better?"
"Sure," I replied.
"But, I want to do something different. I would like to read your mind, see what I can do to help speed up your training."
I don’t want someone in my mind! He may be cute and handsome, but everything in my mind is private, sacred. Maybe I should decline.
"Amanda?" Aaron said.
"Uhh, umm, can we not do it. Everything is private."
"I’m your teacher, and I’m going to read your mind so I can tell what direction to go towards. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you," he smoothly said, making all my senses tingle.
"Please, no. I don’t know what kind of stuff you’ll be in. Everything is private," then I slowly backed up.
"Well, now everything is not private to you anymore," he sat the tea down. "Everything is mine is yours, so everything yours is mine."
I quickly turned around and Aaron stood in front of me. He grabbed my arms and held me tight against him. I accidentally dropped my tea glass onto the floor and it shattered.
"Sor-," then I was in my head.
Different memories and emotions swirled around me. I can feel Aaron’s touch all over my mind, which makes me feel good, wonderful to be exact. Suddenly I was transported into a memory.
"Jeff, I thought we could be together. You told me you will always love me, now you’re pushing me away? Just because I’m going to college and you’re not!" I shouted to the guy in front of me.
Jeff grabbed his bleach blonde hair and growled.
"I don’t care if you’re going to college or not! You seem like you don’t give a damn about me, always hanging out with friends, never want to go out with me," his green eyes bored into me.
"I have a job, so I can pay my college. You are so selfish, just want to get in my pants that’s all isn’t it! You’re a jerk and you don’t give a damn about my emotions!" I cried out.
"You! Whatever, I’m finished with you," his voice had lot of hate into it.
My heart cracked and I ran off towards home.
The memory faded and I stood there, tears streaming down my face. I wanted to get out of my head, but Aaron is still searching through. Then I went into another memory, but this one is from earlier, when I first got to Aaron’s apartment and all my different feeling I have for him. His eyes, his face, his body; he’s just perfect for me, but the memory of Jeff overwhelmed me. What if Aaron is another Jeff? Tears streamed down my face again, and suddenly I was back in the real world.
"Amanda," he softly said.
Tears still rolled down my cheeks. I broke away from Aaron’s grasp and ran into the bedroom. I slammed the door shut, hoping he won’t bother me. I laid on the bed, wishing I just stayed human, never wanting this stupid gift. I closed my wet eyes, hoping everything would end.
"Amanda, training time," his voice smoothly echoed through the room, which gave me goose bumps.
