Never Leave Me Again! - Chapter 2
A new hope, a new beginning...

"Samira, why are we even going there? There's really no point. Let's go back, I have a class in an hour." Ashlisha said half-heartedly.
Her voice was filled with pain and sorrow. Even a stranger would've realized that something was wrong. Her eyes were red, because she had been continuously crying for the last hour. The mascara around her pain-filled eyes was all smudged and her hair and the Louis Vuitton suit she was wearing, was dripping wet from the vast amount of rain pouring outside. But she couldn't care less. What's the point of dressing up for someone, who wasn't even going to recognize you let alone talk to you?
"Because you need to see him." Samira replied, after some time.
"Really? But he doesn't even remember me. What am I going to say to him? What is a 28 year old, depressed lady, who looks like she has just stolen some model's clothes, doing in Sydney's most successful business tycoon's office?"
And with that Samira hit the brakes so hard that her car nearly skidded on the slippery road.
"Look Ashlisha, let's get this straight shall we? First of all, I don't understand why you pity yourself always. Underestimating yourself, and de-motivating yourself over the fact that you're some useless chick who is helpless and is of no use. The suit you're wearing now. It's yours, you're the owner and it is part of the identify you hold today. Look I know a lot has happened over the last two years, but you have held strong and made yourself capable enough to wear branded attires and accessories, travel in the latest Audi model and live in a $1.5 million dollar flat. And second of all, you don't need an excuse to go visit your own husband. Yes, he may not remember you now, but if you won't even come in front of him, let alone start a conversation with him, how do you possibly expect his memory to return?"
And with that, tears started rolling down Ashlisha's cheeks again. Samira gave out a loud sigh and again put her long arms around her best friend who needed her the most right now. She no longer knew what to do. Her best friend was going through a tough time and no longer could she bear her pain.
"Look Ashlisha, I'm sorry I spoke to you like that, but I just can't see you in pain anymore. It really hurts me to see you like this, slowly dying inside.I want you to start your life afresh. With a new beginning. And trust me, you will be happier."
Suddenly, Ashlisha pulled back from the embrace and looked at Samira with disgust.
"How can you even say that Samira? You know how much I love Ayan. How could I possibly even think of marrying again, knowing he is alive and..."
"Calm down Ashlisha! I'm not telling you to marry again."
"You just said that I should start my life all over again." Ashlisha replied, with a hint of anger and disgust in her voice.
"How could you? And now you're changing your statement. I thought you were my best..."
But before Ashlisha could continue, Samira clamped her hand over Ashlisha's mouth and stared at her furiously.
"Will you at least listen to me? Yes, I told you to start your life all over again. A new beginning. But I never mentioned anything about marrying again."
Samira could feel that Ashlisha was somewhat calmer now and was actually going to listen to what she had to say. She slowly moved her hand away from Ashlisha's mouth, put didn't pull it down fully, just in case she started yapping again.
"What I'm trying to say here is go talk to him, befriend him and make yourself noticeable to him. You always said to me that ever since you two met, you guys felt a special connection, an invisible bond that always attracted one to the other. If one of you were close by, the other would instinctively feel your presence. So maybe the reason for Ayan not actually being able to regain his memory is because he can't feel any bond that attracts him to you. Start visiting him Ashlisha, talk to him and become friends with him.
And who knows, maybe what hasn't been able to happen in the last two years, may actually happen in the months to come. And who knows, maybe a visit a day, may actually keep your tears away."
To that Ashlisha actually muffled a laugh. and Samira was glad to see that at least her best friend had smiled for the first time this week. Returning a smile back to Ashlisha and taking in a deep breath, Samira thought on how she had really missed the old Ashlisha over these last two years. After the accident that happened exactly two years back from now, it had seemed that the real Ashlisha had actually died. She wasn't herself anymore. As if she had lost a part of herself in the accident. And most certainly she had. She had lost her heart. But staring at the woman sitting beside her now, Samira could feel a sense of hope. Maybe after all the wait, she might actually get her old friend back.
Ashlisha could feel it deep down as well. She knew that Samira was right. What was wrong in starting all over again? She would meet him as a complete stranger and work her way very carefully, to befriend him. And who knows, maybe what the doctors and the pills haven't been able to do for the last two years, an extended hand of friendship might actually do the miracle. Ashlisha wiped her tears and took a deep breath. Suddenly feeling the most determined and hopeful than she had ever felt in the last couple of years. She would do this.
"Let's do this." Ashlisha said with confidence in her voice.
"That's my girl!" Samira replied with a huge grin and reached out to give her a tight hug.
"But..."
"Now what?" Samira asked. Annoyance clearly visible in her voice.
"I can't go to him like this. If I want to make an impression, I might as well make a good one.
And with that, Samira quickly turned the car around and was soon making her way to Ashlisha's home.
Samira felt a jolt of excitement rush through her body. Similar to the one she had felt on her first wedding anniversary. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of seeing him, talking to him and just touching him. But the smile soon turned into a frown as her thoughts trailed back to that dark night which took away their happiness.
And before she knew it, it all came back in front of her eyes as if she was re-living that horrific night again. And no matter how much she tried to block the images out, they just wouldn't seem to go away.
