Never A3

I dragged my butt into Biology and slumped into a seat in the back row. I pulled out my book and start to get lost in my reading when I was pulled out of my fantasy world by Mrs. Miller's squeaky voice, "Class we have a new student today. He moved here from Florida! I'd like you all to give a warm welcome to Evrick." All the girls gasp, and start to giggle flirtingly. I looked up to see what all the hubbub was about and standing in front of the room was a god.
He had messy dark hair the flopped over one amazingly blue eye. He had muscles, but wasn't OVERLY muscular. There was a lip ring on one side of his mouth and I instantly wanted to reach out and touch it. "There is an open seat over by Riella," Mrs. Miller says and points to me, practically dueling. I snap out of it as soon as his brilliant blue eyes land on me. He smiles and I quickly look to the floor. I learned very quickly its hard to get a boyfriend when everyone thinks you're a schizophrenic loser.
Evrick came and plopped down in the seat next to mine while Mrs.Miller started the lesson. Girls gave me the evil eyes and all I did was sit there, wide-eyed and unable to move from the fright that the girl would tackle me and scratch my eyes out with their manicured nails. I have such a strange imagination. I chuckled out loud at the thought of all the girl in class randomly leaping up and grabbing at my throat. This caught the attention of Evrick who whispered "what's so funny?" His voice startled me. No one ever talked to me.
"Nothing." I say trying to hide a smile.
"No, come on, tell me." he grins angling his body towards mine, the creek of his chair made all the girl's eyes shoot to us.
"That" I whisper pointing to the ogling girls. He glances up and notices the eyes and chuckles along with me. The girls are sending me daggers with their heavily lined eyes.
"So your Riella?" he asks.
"Ya, you can call me RiRi, if you'd like." I say blushing.
"Cool, you can call me Ev if you want." I look up and smile and he smiles right back. His blue eyes shining. The moment would have been perfect, if it weren't for my stupid 6th sense. There was a moaning outside the door. I tried to ignore it. I dug my nails into my palms and quickly turned away from Evrick to hide my frightened expression. The door flew open into the classroom startling everyone. Both my eyes and Evrick flew to the ghost of a man standing in the doorway. Evrick looked at me wide-eyed and whispered, "You can see them to." My heart picked up and I searched his awestruck eyes for some sort of sick joke.
The bell rang and I jumped out of my seat and walked out of the room before he could say anything more. I ran to my locker, grabbed my stuff, and started to run for the door. I squeezed my way through clumps of kids and ignored Evrick calling my name. I finally made it to my car and grabbed my keys with shaking hands. I stuck my key in the lock of my car, cursing myself for not getting one that unlocks with a button.
After many failed attempts I fit my key into the lock, just as I'm about to twist the key, a hand grabs mine and pulls the key out of the lock. My breathing picks up as the warm hand on mine sends shocks though me. The hand spins me around and I come face to face with Evrick.
He pushes me against the car and puts a hand on either side of my head, leaning in close.
"I know you see them to." he whispers.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"You saw him! I know you did!" his voice gets a little louder.
"Who are you talking about?" I ask unconvincingly. I remind myself to get some acting lessons.
"You may be fooling everyone in that building, but not me. I know you see them. Now just tell me...do..do you...see ...ghosts?" He whispers. His piercing eyes searching mine. I bite my lips debating on whether or not I could trust him. I just met him after all like...45 min ago! But something in his eyes made me nod slowly, my eyes fill with tears of joy that I had finally told someone. A smile spreads across Evrick's face and he wraps his arms around me and hugs me to him tight, lifting me off the ground. "I KNEW IT!" he shouts spinning me around. "I knew I wasn't crazy!"
He sets me back on my feet and puts his hands on my shoulders. "You have no idea how great this is! We can talk about everything! No secrets, you understand what im going through. You know how scary it is..don't you." Once again I nod and a tears slips out. He quickly wipes it away with his thumb. "So where are you going?" he asks.
"I don't know..." I whisper. I live in Allentown Pennsylvania so there isn't much to do.
"Is there any place we can go to just..talk? You know, we can tell each other what it's been like. I nod and he jumps in the passenger side of my tuck. I put the key in the lock effortlessly and jump in and I guide my tuck to a little park on the edge of town.
We walk around a while and then go sit on to big rocks set in sand. I lay on my back and soak up the hot sun. A warm breeze washes across us and I breathe deeply, closing my eyes listening to the birds chirp and the trees move in the wind. "How long have you had it?" I ask him referring to our "gift."
"Since I was about 10."
"Lucky. I've had it all my life."
"Seriously?" he asks getting on one elbow so he could look at me. "What was it like."
"Terrifying." I say without thinking. "That's exactly what it is. My mom didn't know I had it when I was a toddler. I couldn't talk so I couldn't tell her. But one day I learned to say 'ghost' and I would point them out. That's when my mother knew. The gift is passed through on my mother's side so all my family on that side knows."
"And what does your dad think?" he asks.
"My dad..is..dead." I confess.
"Oh...I'm sorry."
"It doesn't matter." I chuckle "I still see him every day." Evrick laughs at nods understanding completely. "I wouldn't be surprised if he's spying on me right this minute."
"Well I still have both of my parents. They are annoying yes totally lovable. They both know about the gift, and so does all of my family, seeing that both my parents have it."
"That is so cool! I thought it was only my family!"
"I thought the same thing," he confessed. We started to look in each others eyes. I felt my heart speed up, he started to lean forward towards my lips...
"So then what happened." I ask turning away, wanting to hear the rest of his story. He chuckles and goes on.
"Well the first day it happened I had a major-meltdown. I thought I was going crazy. It took my parents forever to calm me down. They explained everything and I had to live with it. But now I've got you to help me through things and ill do the same for you." he says smiling. I like the sound of that so I smile back.
"You have amazing eyes." he whispers acknowledging my mint green eyes. I blush and look down.
"You do to. I hate mine. They're to bright and kind of scary, I'll trade you." I giggle.
"Do you want to come to my house for dinner? I know my parents would LOVE to meet you." he says blushing a little.
"Id love to." I smile.
"Cool, I'll pick you up at like 7?" he asks.
"Sure. Where is your new house?"
"3408 Sheridan blvd."
"Seriously? You live across the street from me. My house is the big gray one."
"With the fountain in front?" He asks getting excited.
"Ya!"
"Nice! Well then just walk on over at 7ish." I nod and we drive to our neighborhood. There was no point in going back to school, and my mom understands if I need to leave early if I see...a ghost.
I drop him off and then go inside my house. I tell my mom all about Evrick and she and I both think this is a good thing.
