- A relationship breakup or divorce causes a couple to go separate ways, and a partner is not able to cope with it.
- Very often, friends are taken for granted. But the loss of a friend can push a person into depression.
- A number of women who have been through an abortion have nervous breakdowns. Some women can even have a nervous breakdown after giving birth.
- The economic recession has left many people without jobs. This has become a nervous breakdown cause for a number of people.
- If there are problems at the workplace, it can lead to a nervous breakdown.
- Many people are not able to come to terms with their sexual preferences or are not able to come out in the open about it. This leads to depression and anxiety.
- Physical, sexual or emotional abuse can also lead to a nervous breakdown.
Gone are the days where a person was termed ‘lunatic’ or ostracized from society just because he suffered a nervous breakdown. Nervous breakdown recovery is not only possible but also essential. Recovery from nervous breakdown requires two very important things, namely care and time. It is advisable to visit a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist to get the problem assessed and to aid the recovery process.
While dealing with a person with nervous breakdown, it is important to remember that the person has hit a mental block and is not able to find a way out of it. There are chances that previously the person did swim through the highest tide, but now this small tide seems to be even larger than the highest tide.
The person often speaks incoherently about a situation and also to people. Many a time, the person realizes his mistake, but is not able to tackle the situation. Nervous breakdown recovery time varies from the first nervous breakdown signs. It has been noticed that people who suffer physical, sexual and emotional abuse take longer than the people who have a nervous breakdown due to trauma to recover from it. Often, people recover to a large extent from the nervous breakdown symptoms but take longer to completely recover from it. At the same time, they are vulnerable to depression.
Nervous breakdown can be prevented. The family members should pay attention to each other's behavior, so that they will be able to notice any behavioral changes like violent behavior, stress, depression, etc. Nervous breakdown prevention has been a neglected area of study, although research has been started now in this area as well.
If a near and a dear one is suffering from a nervous breakdown, remember that it's good to talk about it to people who have faced the same problem. This way, you will get clues which will aid in the nervous breakdown recovery process.
