Natural Remedies For Fibroid Tumors

If you have fibroids then you are likely to be frustrated with the lack of treatment options which have been offered. Surgery to remove fibroids and drug treatment are not permanent solutions as fibroids are likely to regrow if nothing is done to treat the causes. Living with such an uncomfortable and often painful condition which can detract from the quality of life is unacceptable.
I began looking for natural remedies for fibroid tumors after being diagnosed with large fibroids. I had been having terrible symptoms for many months and actually thought I might have ovarian cancer. My stomach was the size of a 7 month pregnancy and I had constant anemia from my heavy periods. I couldn't even walk upstairs without being out of breath.

Family members began to say that I looked ill. The truth was I felt ill most of the time. My own doctor eventually decided I might have fibroids and he referred me for a scan. I really felt relieved at that time-elated that I probably didn't have a life-threatening condition. I thought I'd just be able to take a few pills and then be ok. Little did I know that it wasn't quite so straightforward!

What I actually had was a whole batch of fibroids. Not just one or two, but I had one which was as large as a small melon and four others which were like oranges. There were also some smaller ones too. Although many women are simply advised to leave their fibroids to shrink naturally at the menopause, mine were too far advanced for that and were affecting the quality of my life.

I was advised to have surgery and that it would take place in around 4 months time. It was nearly Christmas 2007 and we were going on vacation, so I was given a month before my hormone treatment would start to try to shrink the fibroids down a little as they were so big I was told they could cause complications during surgery. I asked if there were any natural remedies for fibroid tumors but got not much more than a blank stare back and was told there was nothing I could do other than have surgery.

I was really worried. Not only about the forthcoming surgery but about the hormone treatment I was going to start taking at the end of January. I read up on it and found a list of really bad side effects which included osteoporosis, thinning vaginal tissues and facial wrinkles. I was only in my mid thirties and decided I wanted to avoid taking these if possible. However, I also knew that I had to shrink the fibroids before my surgery or I was putting my life at risk.

I spent night after night on the internet, searching for any snippets of information I could find and in particular I looked for information on natural remedies for fibroid tumors.

One of the reasons that fibroids are difficult to treat is because there is no one simple cause. Fibroids tend to be caused by a combination of factors which subtly interact, causing fibroid growth. There are certain conditions which a woman might have which make fibroids more likely, but this can be an unpredictable condition and any successful natural treatment must use a multi-faceted approach .

One common factor in fibroid growth is estrogen. A woman with a higher than average level is more likely to have fibroids, but this is by no means a foregone conclusion. Following on from this, women who are overweight are more likely to have higher estrogen levels as this hormone is carried and produced in fat cells. One treatment therefore is to maintain a healthy weight, thus reducing estrogen levels. Other elements of successful natural treatments can include detoxing. This is because certain pollutants can mimic estrogen and these are stroed in the liver. A good liver detox can help eliminate these substances and thus help shrink fibroids. Another tip is that many women who are prone to inflammatory conditions can be prone to fibroids, so eating foods with natural anti-inflammatory properties can help. Such foods include oats, hops and cumin.

If you are considering surgery for your fibroids or you are simply not prepared to live with the condition any longer, you may wish to consider all-natural remedies for fibroid tumors. As fibroids are very rarely dangerous or life threatening, it is certainly worthwhile giving this a try first.

I found a remedy on the internet which I felt happy with. In my case it was a bit of a desperate attempt to do "something" before the dreaded hormone treatment. Little did I know how successful it would be. In my own case, my symptoms began to subside after a few days, but it was around 4 weeks before I really thought something was happening. I requested a scan, and my doctor confirmed that my fibroids had reduced in size. I postponed my hormone treatment and later that year, it was confirmed that my largest fibroid, although still there, had reduced considerably and was no longer causing me any symptoms. Some of the others had disappeared and others were just very small.

Although my story is a success story, I would give you a word of warning if you are considering this treatment. It does require you to be proactive and manage your own healing. It is by no means an easy "quick fix" method, and is not suitable if you are looking for an immediate solution. It involved a fair bit of time and effort but I can honestly say it was well-worth the results.
