Natural Menstrual Cramp Relief

It is recommended that women should start drinking this chamomile tea at least two days prior to the periods. Drinking two cups of tea daily during the periods will help a lot.
Multivitamins
Multivitamins and minerals help in reducing the pain caused due to menstrual cramps. Calcium and magnesium are two good minerals that help to reduce the pain and help to overcome the sluggishness too. Consumption of dairy products and nuts, vegetables and beans will help as they are rich in vitamins and in minerals.
Ginger Tea
Slice up some ginger root and add it to two cups of water. Let the water and ginger boil for about 15 minutes. Strain and drink this tea hot. If you want, you can add a little bit of honey or sugar to sweeten the tea. However, it is recommended that ginger tea be consumed without any sweetener for good effect.
Ripe Banana
One of the oldest folk remedies, eating a ripe banana during periods is said to reduce the menstrual cramps. An option is to make a pulp of the banana and add some sugar in it, before consuming.
Peppermint
Peppermint tea, when consumed during periods will help to reduce the menstrual cramps. Mint is an option to peppermint.
Fluids
Hot fluids like soups, herbal teas, coffee or plain warm water will also help to reduce the menstrual cramps. These warm liquids help to relieve the congestion and stress in the muscles and provide relief. Other than the warm fluids, consuming pineapple will also help in relieving pain.
Basil
Steep some basil leaves in water and drink this infusion every hour. This will help to reduce the cramps. This infusion is also very easy to make and is a good measure.

Hot Pads
Keeping hot water bottles or electric hot pads on the abdomen and on the lower back will help to reduce the pain caused due to menstrual cramps. Care needs to be taken to see that these are not too hot.
Hot Baths
Nothing relaxes more than a nice hot bath. Fill up the bathtub and pour in about a cup of sea salt with some baking soda. Soaking in this water will relieve the muscles.
Exercises
A walk down the beach or in a park with soothing environment all around will help the woman to relax. Also, the walk will help to reduce the cramps during the periods. Swimming and yoga are also the other options that will help in reducing the pain.
Massage
Gently massage the abdomen and the lower back to relieve menstrual cramps. Use aromatherapy oils for this massage.
Acupressure
Women can learn to do acupressure from an expert and can perform acupressure during the periods to provide relief to themselves.
Other than these above mentioned measures, consumption of a low fat diet will also help to reduce the pain caused due to the menstrual cramps. As all these above measures are natural, they will not harm any one. Try them at home and make those difficult days, easy.
