- Do not use toxic pesticides: There are many toxic products available in the market, but those also bear the risk of poisoning your animals. One of conventional ways to control is use of Pyrethrins. But that can also be toxic to the pets. So, just do not rush to the shop and get anything for the purpose. Some pesticides like Organophosphates and Carbamates are also available which paralyze nerve of insect, but that is not the safe way either as it can have same effect on animals too. Some chemical pesticides also can cause cancer in animals.
- Keep cleaning your house: Do not give the congenial surroundings to fleas to grow. Fleas go thorough several stages – the eggs, larva and then cocoon. They lay eggs in carpets, sofas, rugs, mattresses, on floor, animal beddings, etc. Next time sprinkle pennyroyal in those places of your house. If we clean them time to time, that helps to resist further production of fleas.
- Bathe and groom your animals: If possible bathe your animal in warm soupy water and groom their hair everyday with the comb. You can add some herbal oil to the water while bathing your animal.
- Animal food: Health of animals is also important. Feed them natural, good quality, nutritional food. Mix up one or two garlic cloves in the food of animals, which will keep the fleas away. Brever’s east, also can be added to the food of animals.
- Outdoor control: IOutdoor control is also equally important. Keep the surrounding area of your house clean. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth in your gardens. That will help in control of fleas. You can also use the microscopic worm Nematodes, which eats flea larva and naturally help in flea control.
