This is a science fiction starring Nicolas Cage and a girl who randomly writes some numbers, apparently some dates which turns the film into a thriller movie creating enough suspense as the story unfolds.

2012
Unlike other films that are mainly pictured on issues that affect only the U.S. (as far as the issues are concerned) this film is about global warming and the prediction of the Mayan people. Amazing effects and a good watch.

Twister
Based on thunderstorms this film is breathtaking and is filmed on a team of researchers and meteorologists who are working towards making a device for gathering data. Starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton with others, this story is related to an incident that happens in the protagonist's life and then follows his resolution. A very interesting watch.

Dante's Peak
This movie which is based on volcanoes, again, and the area in purview is a fictional town, by the same name, somewhere in the U.S.A. Supposedly based on the eruptions of the volcanoes Mount St. Helens and Pinatubo. Starring Pierce Brosnan, who takes up the task of investing the geology of the eruptions and predicting the same after losing his fiancee, makes the movie a must watch.

The Day After Tomorrow
Based on climate change, this film is written as well as directed by Roland Emmerich with actors including Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal plus others, the story goes like this... An expedition team goes to the Antarctica for collecting some ice core samples and are witness to a horrific effect of global warming. The filming and effects are superb and it makes you sit on the edge of your seat.

Vertical Limit
A very touching as well as spine chilling movie where a son has to cut off the supporting rope of his father while they are mountain climbing and that too on the father's instruction. The son obeys because both his and his sister's lives were at stake but the incident stays with him for long. Surely one of the best disaster movies and a must watch.

Volcano
As the name suggests, this movie is based on volcanoes which follows an earthquake. Acting as a dedicated, responsible and genuine officer of an emergency management team in Los Angeles, Tommy Lee Jones goes out of his way to detect what other authorities had missed out.

Deep Impact
Reviews and the censor board credited this natural disaster film as being more scientifically accurate than any other scientific fiction film. It deals with a strory line which is not altogether new but the theories used is sure to make you believe what is being shown. As the subtitle says, Heaven and Earth are about to collide, this movie deals with an expected collision of a comet with our planet.

The Day The Earth Stood Still
Starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly and others, this film is directed by Scott Derrickson and the story is based on how humans have affected and created environmental issues, which is observed by alien creatures who send a representative (Keanu Reeves) in a human form to sort us out.
