This vivacious lady is amongst the most talked about swimmers at the 2008 Olympics, Beijing. Born on 23rd August 1982, Natalie Coughlin has had her tryst with swimming at an early age. This American swim star is now the recipient of many medals and awards. Natalie is actually of Irish and Filipino origin being born to Jim and Zennie Coughlin. Brought up in Concord, she initially spent her early days at the Carondelet High School. From there on, she moved ahead to complete her BA in psychology.
Natalie did create headlines at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Here, she broke a world record and bagged gold as well (4 x 200 m Freestyle relay)! She also won gold for the 4 X 100 m freestyle relay. Currently, Natalie has again created waves at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Let's take a quick look at her success story at this event.

- On August 10, she bagged the silver medal in the 4×100 m Freestyle Relay. (Time: 3:34.33)

Speaking with the media, Natalie Coughlin has currently stated being focused for the future events, the 2012 London Olympics. But as of now, she would prefer to take some time off and plan for her wedding with Crow Canyon Sharks slated for April 2009.
