Did you know that tea tree oil has excellent anti fungal properties! Read on to find out more on this conflicting relationship of toenail fungus and the tea tree oil.

Tea tree Oil Information
Tea tree oil is an essential oil and has a fresh camphoraceous odor. It is derived from the leaves of the plant called Melaleuca alternifolia, a native of New South Wales, Australia. It has antiseptic antifungal and antibacterial properties which make it an important aspect of home remedies for curing problems cropping up due to these reasons.
How to Cure Toenail Fungus With Tea Tree Oil
The basic thing you can do is apply tea tree oil directly to the infected toe and fingernails thrice daily, not more than a couple of drops. This is of course, if you are not sensitive to direct exposure. Try the following if you are sensitive to direct application of tea tree oil.
Finger and Toenail Tea tree Oil Soak
- Take half cup of warm cider vinegar.
- Add 6 drops of tea tree oil to the cider vinegar.
- Then add either of these 4 essential oils - 1 drop sandalwood oil, 2 drops peppermint oil, 2 drops patchouli oil or 2 drops thyme oil.
- After you prepare a mixture of cider vinegar, tea tree oil and a secondary essential oil, add it to basin full of warm water.
- The water should be wrist or ankle deep. Soak your foot or hand for a minimum 15 minutes.
- Take 4 teaspoons of apple vinegar.
- Then take distilled water, around 30 ml or boiled water in the same quantity.
- Add 10 drops of lavender oil and then follow it up by adding 6 drops of tea tree oil.
- Get a dark glass bottle and pour vinegar in it.
- Add the essential oil, in this case, the lavender oil.
- Shake this mixture well and add water, then shake it thoroughly.
- Swab the area infected with cotton thrice daily.
- Shake the mixture well every time before applying it. Always apply with a swab.
Tea Tree Oil Powder
- What you would need is 2 tbsp of cornflour or unscented talc, 15 drops of lavender and 5 drops of peppermint.
- Put corn flour or talc in a plastic bag and add essential oils to it.
- Zip or tie the bag properly and let it be like that for 24 hours. This will allow the oil to spread through the base.
- Finally, before you use this for the first time, mix well.
Before you decide to use tea tree oil for getting rid of that horrendous nail fungal infection, consult a doctor. He or she can confirm whether it is nail fungus or not and will help you for further course of action. Most importantly, keep your finger and toenails clean!
Last, but not the least, after using tea tree oil on the nails, make sure you do not touch your mouth or eyes or nose as it can cause irritation. Avoid using tea tree oil if you feel it is causing extreme irritation. Take Care!
