My Summer in Ireland - Prologue

Keelin decides to spend her summer in Ireland with her best friend Lily. Hoping to get over her ex boyfriend. (from the author of Just Another Day)
"Lily! Lily!" I called out panicked. Where is she?! We haven't even been here for 48 hours, and we've already lost each other. Lily and I were at a pub when she was suddenly swept out by a big group of men. When I realized she was no longer next to me, I ran out into the street to look for her. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw her golden blonde hair.

"There you are!" I yelled across the street. She turned in my direction, smiled and waved me over. Hmm, this is weird, I thought. When I got to where she was, the two guys she was with eyed me closely. I felt awkward under their gazes. So I turned to Lily.

"I thought I lost you! I was so scared for a second." She looked amused. I scoffed at her. "What? Is my being worried funny?"

"What? Oh no! It's just that I was in good hands, Keelin. When these guys realized I was swept out, they were helping me find my way back." She smiled at them. So I smiled my gratitude. One of them looked at me curiously when she said my name. I must have looked at him confused, because he asked me a question.

"Your name is Keelin?" He asked. He waited for my response. His accent was gorgeous. I've always loved Irish accents.

"Yeah, my dad was Irish. He was actually from Dublin. But he died before I was born so my mom named me after his mom." From what my mom tells me, my parents were totally and completely in love. They met each other when they were sixteen when my dad moved to New York because his dad got a job there. She says that it was love at first sight. And that he will be her one and only love. Unfortunately, when she was 6 months pregnant, he died in a car accident. So, I'm an only child with a single mom. Not that I mind. I love her so much.

Again confused about the look on his face, I turned to Lily to distract myself. By the looks of it, she was into the other guy. And we soon left after I complained of being jet lagged. But we didn't leave before she made plans with them to meet up for lunch the following day. And I hate to admit it, I was looking forward to it.
