My Soldier

"You told me that you'd chosen Fighting instead of me..." - please comment
My Soldier
You told me that you'd chosen
Fighting instead of me
You wanted to bring peace.

I should've kicked and fought
I should've told you not to
I should have screamed at you 'please'

I didn't say anything but
One simple phrase, a promise
You told me you would keep.

I told you "don't die"
I should've kicked and screamed
I should've made you reconsider

You told me that you wanted
To bring peace to the world
I told you "don't die"

You promised me you'd keep that in mind.
Did you bring peace to the world
When you died?

It’s all my fault
I shouldn't have let you
Go to war

I loved you
And I always will
I told you not to die

You promised me you'd keep that in mind
You wanted to bring peace to the world...
Is the world more peaceful with you gone?

I wonder if my cries affect anyone at all
I wonder if anyone cares
My soldier died at war.
