My Shining Star

How do we reach for the stars
When we are covered by scars
Of broken promises
And empty dreams
And I scream,
And I scream,
At the God
That made us all,
Does he see us fall?
Does he see us fall?

Where is his hand
When mine’s outstretched
And doing my best,
And doing my best,
Will I ever rest?

In anger
Unkind words are said
But at least we have
Someone to address.
To be alone
Is the curse
That is
The worst,
That is
The worst.

Sometimes
I wish to die
But can only cry;
I wish to feel the heat
Of passion
Of love
When we first met
Unless I beat
Upon myself
And cast away my hopes
Reaching for
Some distant star
Away so far,
Away so far.

I need your hand
Extend to mine
You will find
I have more to give
Than I will take,

And together
We’ll be
Together
We’ll see
The stars
Within our eyes
Are not a disguise
Hiding endless lies;
But the raptor of the wind
That we both can send
Will blow our way
And here we’ll stay
Another day
Another day,

And we will play
With words we say
That speak of love
And truth so dear
When you are near
And I can hear
Your laughter
In the rain,
The echoes
Of your smile,
The beauty of you
Just because you are
For I have reached
My shining star
My shining star.
