My Reflection
I was lost and now I am found...sort of...I still have a lot to work through from my past... (I wrote the original on 9-15-08 this is the edited version I like it better)
I stand by the pool of water staring at my reflection and ask myself if the girl staring back is really me.
As I stand by the pool of water staring at my reflection I see a girl who is hurting and is crying out for help, but there is no reply to her cry. Tears stream down her face and a frown creases her brow, making her beauty hard to see.
She is trying to make it in a world that is colder and harsher than you can ever imagine. She tries to escape from her prison of pain and hurt, but every time she tries, she is knocked back down.
The pain in her eyes is more than I can bear to see. It makes me want to cry, and hide her away from the world so no one can hurt her.
As I stand by the pool of water staring at my reflection hoping that things don't get any worse, someone comes up to me and wraps their arms around me and say, " Look deeper into your heart and soul , and you will see your true self, is the person that everyone else sees in you."
I did what they said to do, and I started to smile because what I saw was the girl that I had been looking for all along was right there the whole time. Now when I stand by the pool of water I see the real me staring back and not someone I don't know.
