CHAPTER 1
It all started when I was a little girl...
I was ten at the time I had my first kiss ever from a boy. His name was Dominic Siciliano, and mine, mine was Gianna Italiano. It was at my birthday party and my older cousins were playing a game of truth or dare. Dominic and I decided to play a little game of our own so he went first and asked if I liked him and I said yes and then I dared him to kiss me and he did. It was a bit awkward though since I knew him since we were born. See here's the thing, we grew up together. He and his family have lived on my block forever and our older brothers grew up together too so we were destined to be friends. But that's just it, friends and nothing more. That's how it was after that birthday party.
Now, six years later at sixteen years old the situation is the same. We still live on the same block. We go to the same high school and are in most of the same classes. I walk to school with him and walk home from school with him every day. As like in the past, we are still just friends. I don't know what the feelings are between me and Dominic but I do know that we are very close. He is like my best guy friend and he is my diary. Seriously I tell him everything. We text each other all day long and even call each other every night. Ok, so you may be thinking something and I know what it is and the answer is no. Dominic is not gay if that was what you were wondering. Actually, he has a new girlfriend about every month. I really don't know how he does it. Once he dated twin sisters at the same exact time without either of them knowing it. The kid is a true pimp. Anyway Dominic is so hot. He is about six feet tall and he has light brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes along with a banging body and a great personality. This is the one thing that really stands out between us. I have all of those same exact qualities, only I am a girl and I am not six feet but more like five foot five inches. However, I don't have a problem getting boys; I have a problem getting a boyfriend.
Dominic is considered the most popular boy in school and I am considered the most popular girl. We are both the captains of our varsity basketball teams and yes we are both juniors, pretty amazing right? Well anyway everyone thinks we should be together but the problem is that everyone likes us so it's hard. Plus, Dominic and I are more like friends. Deep down I have a huge crush on him and I think he likes me a little bit too because we flirt with each other nonstop, it's actually pretty scary how we act like we are boyfriend and girlfriend when we really aren't. Dom's brother Nick is the same age as my brother Joe. They are both seniors and go to the same high school as us. They both always try to get me and Dom together all the time and so do their girlfriends. Joe has been going out with his girl for like a year now and Nick, since like eighth grade. Yea, it's pretty amazing...but why can't we do that? I don't know but this year is almost over and it is April of junior year. I made a promise and a bet with my best friend Chrissie that she will help me get Dom to be my boyfriend by the summer or hopefully even sooner by the homecoming dance which is April 22nd. I mean all my friends and family tell me that it is a shame me and Dom aren't together because it would be the perfect love story.... well I'm going to try my best to make it happen.
CHAPTER 2
Today is Sunday, April 17th. Chrissie is coming over in a little while to hang out and also because it is Sunday and every Sunday since my family is Italian we do the pasta dinner at three o'clock. Chrissie is also coming over because tomorrow we have school but it is also the beginning of spirit week. Spirit week is the week of the homecoming game slash pep rally for our football, basketball, and baseball teams. We have two every year; one in the fall and one in the spring. On Monday through Thursday our whole school gets to dress up and go crazy. On Friday we get to all wear our uniforms for our team. Each day has a theme and tomorrow it is mix and match day. Chrissie and I are going to plan our outfits later. I am so excited. I hear the doorbell. She is just in time for supper.
"Hey Chrissie...Ah I am so excited for tomorrow I cannot wait" I say as I greet Chrissie.
"Oh my gosh me too Gianna you have no idea" says Chrissie.
Chrissie and I go to the dinner table and start eating. My brother Joe isn't home yet. He is at the mall with Nick and their girlfriends so they will be home a little bit later. My mom and dad are eating with us now.
"So are you girls ready for spirit week?" asks my mom.
We nod our heads and smile.
"What is the first day?" asks my dad.
"Mix and match day!" says Chrissie.
"Yea, so we will be busy later on you know planning our outfits" I say.
"I bet you girls will be" my mom says.
Dinner was delicious as always. After we were done eating we went upstairs to my room and started planning our outfits. By the way we live in Newport Harbor, California so it's pretty hot this time of year.
"So Gianna why weren't the Siciliano's over for dinner tonight? Don't they come every Sunday?" asks Chrissie.
"Oh, yeah of course they do but this week they had a party to go to" I say
"Oh that sucks because then you would get to see your baby" she says
"Chrissie, he is not my baby...yet" I say and smile
"That's right...yet" she says and laughs
We picked out our clothes for tomorrow. I am wearing a pink guinea tee with baby blue shorts, and pink sneakers. It is going to look so hot. Chrissie is wearing black Capri pants with green sneakers and a green t-shirt. We definitely will have the best outfits.
"Hey, Chrissie, I have an idea. I should call up Dom and be like oh I missed you at dinner blah, blah, blah, and then ask him what he is wearing tomorrow" I say
"Hah, great idea. Be a little flirtatious, it won't hurt anyone" she says
I start to dial his phone number on my sidekick but then Chrissie interrupts me.
"Sorry but before you call, who is he going out with these days anyway?" she asks
"Stacy White" I say
"EW no I hate that girl" says Chrissie
I dial his number again.
"It's ringing" I whisper to Chrissie and put him on speaker phone.
"Hello?" says Dom when he answers
"Hey Dom its Gianna"
"Hey Gee I know who it is" he says and laughs
"Where are you? I missed you at dinner. It was so good today." I say
"I know I had this party for my baby cousins but believe me I would have much rather been there with you guys" he says.
"I bet. Chrissie is here. She is taking your place for the day" I say
"Oh, you're replacing me now. Just kidding, tell her I said hi" he says
"I did. So tomorrow is mix and match day, what are you wearing?" I ask
"Uh. I have no clue. Probably clothes. What about you?" he says
"Well I would hope so. I am wearing clothes too. You'll see tomorrow because it is a surprise" I say
"I hope I am surprised then" he says
"Don't worry you will be" I say
"Good. So what are you girls doing now" Dom asks
"Nothing, just hanging out. Wish you were here. We are mad bored"
"I bet you are. Well listen I got to bounce so I will see you guys tomorrow alright"
"Okay Dom goodbye see you in the morning"
"Oh and I will be one of the first to see you in your outfit tomorrow morning"
"Oh that's right. Try not to be too anxious"
"I'll try my best Gee. Bye"
We hang up.
Chrissie and I talk about Dom and I like him more and more now each day that goes by. This plan is definitely going to work no matter what. I will make Dom my boyfriend.
CHAPTER 3
Today is Monday, April 18th. Mix and match day at Newport Harbor High School. I am extremely excited. I have never been so hyper at six in the morning in my whole life until this day. I am all dressed and ready to go. I usually walk down to Dom's house in the mornings and we walk from there.
"Mom! I am leaving"
"Okay sweetie, have a nice day. Have fun."
I start heading down to Dom's house. I found a hat last night that I bought when I went to the amusement park. It is one of those hats you get your name on with graffiti spray and it's pink so I'm wearing it because it goes perfect with my outfit. I look so hot. I see Dom outside.
"Dominic!" I shout from down the block
He starts laughing and I could tell he likes my outfit. That little playa.
"Hey. Wow I am surprised" he says and laughs as he gives me a big hug
"I missed you kid I haven't seen you since Saturday and that's like a record for us" I say
We are walking to school now. It is about a twenty minute walk.
"So how was the party yesterday" I ask
"Gay. How was dinner?"
"It was okay but it would have been better if you were there"

"So did Stacey go with you yesterday" I ask him
"Nah. Actually I broke up with her Saturday night. I didn't want to tell you yesterday because Chrissie was there but yeah Stacey is I don't know just not for me" he says

I am really not sorry for them. This is great news. This is like so exciting. Now I can move in on him.
"It was a waste of time anyway" he says
"Oh. Well you will find another girlfriend soon"
"Yea. So how about you, how is your love life going" he asks me
"Hm. It's not. Come on you know me, I can't get a boyfriend" I say
"But you can get boys? Come on Gianna are you serious? I mean really do you hear yourself?" he asks
"Yes, but..."
"But nothing. Gianna you can get a boyfriend in a second. If I made an announcement today saying that you were looking for a boyfriend I bet all the boys in the school would come running after you. You are hot Gianna and you have a great personality. I mean wake up, seriously why do you always say that?" he says
"I don't know. It's complicated. I have my own reasons and issues" I say
"Hey, but I'm your diary remember? You can tell me anything and everything and you know that it won't be repeated and vice versa" he says
"Well maybe I'll talk to you about it sometime this week because right now I just want to have fun this week. It's spirit week Dom!" I say
"Okay, but you better tell me what's going on and soon"
"I will Dom, don't worry. Okay?" I say
"K. Now let's go have some fun in school" he says
That was some talk I had with Dominic on the way to school. I really know what the problem is but I don't want to tell him, at least not yet. I will though sometime this week. I am now at school and I have three more classes until the first day of spirit week is over. Don't forget everyone; I walk home from school with Dominic too. J
CHAPTER 4
The school day is finally over and I am home now. The walk home from school was good. Dominic and I just talked about what happened in school today, nothing too serious like this morning. Anyway I have a lot of homework to do; yeah they do give us homework on spirit week. It sucks but what could you do. I finished my homework and went to bed. Tomorrow is Tuesday and the theme is Disneyland. I am wearing a Disney shirt, shorts, and Minnie Mouse ears. I just have the cutest outfits.
It is morning, April 19th. I am walking to school with Dom now. He loves my outfit. He told me he wishes I was the real Minnie Mouse at Disneyland. What a flirt. Anyway today is going to be a lot of fun. My brother and Nick are dressing up as the chipmunks from Disney. We arrive at school and see them.
"Oh my gosh look who it is... Nick and Joe the chipmunks" I say and laugh
"Shut up Gianna you know we look good in these outfits" says Nick
"No you guys do look good .... So cute" I say
I look at Dominic and we both start hysterical laughing.

At lunch I sit with Dom, Chrissie, Nick, Joe, and their girlfriends, and Dom's best friend Mike who is hooking up with Chrissie. I don't know if they are together or not but they are definitely "tweeners". That is my word for the in-between relationship.
"Chrissie, what is up?" I say
"Hey how was the walk today?"
"Nice. Did you see Nick and Joe?"
"Yes. They look so real" she says sarcastically
"Come on let's go to class" I say and laugh
After five classes it is finally time for lunch. I am starving. I buy lunch and sit down at our table outside. Dom is already sitting along with everyone else.
"Wow, I am usually the first one here every day... what is this?" I say
"The chipmunks needed to get first in line today Minnie" says Dom
I laugh and start to eat. He is so funny, and nice, and hot, and oh my gosh I want him.
"I can't wait until Friday" I say
"I love pep rally and homecoming" says Chrissie
"Does everyone have a date yet" says Joe
"Well we know you and Nick do and I am guessing Chrissie and Mike are going together" I say
"Do you have one yet" asks Joe
"No" I say
I know that Dom doesn't either and he never asked me go with him unless he is waiting but I don't know. Way to put us on the spot Joe.
Disneyland day is over and I am walking home with Dom
"So today is Tuesday, are you going to talk to me about you know, what we talked about yesterday or ..." says Dom
"Tomorrow after school you can come over my house and we will talk" I say
"Okay, sounds good. I will see you tomorrow" he says
CHAPTER 5
It is Wednesday morning. I am so nervous because today is the talk with Dom after school. In school the theme today is Scary Halloween Mask day. I am wearing my brothers mask. It is Chuckie. Really scary. I reach Dom's house. He is wearing a Jason mask.
"Wow Dom together we make a scary pair of monsters" I say
"I know these are like the two scariest masks, and the Freddie mask but ..." he says
"I bet like everyone is going to have the same masks on...either these or Freddie or Venom or whatever they are just all going to be the same" I say
"Yes... it is going to be scary today" he says
"I don't like mask day, its boring" I say
"It's alright I guess... so I am coming over after school still right?" he asks
"Yea, unless you have other plans it's ok I mean" I say
"No, I have no plans. I will be there" he says

"What's wrong?" asks Dom

"You just look like something is bothering you" he says
This kid always knows when something is wrong with me or if I am not feeling well. Whatever it is he could always tell.

"For what? The talk?"

"Well whatever it is you can tell me, don't be nervous around me Gee. And also despite whatever happens later I want you to come to the homecoming dance with me because I have nobody else to go with and I want to take you this time, someone normal. So, will you go with me?" he asks

I am so happy right now. I feel a little bit better about having the talk with Dom later. When I got to school everyone had mostly the same masks on. I was right. The day was pretty slow and boring too. I am now walking home from school and Dom is coming over. Time to talk.
"So do you want to talk now or wait until we get to your house?" he asks

We get home to my house and I bring him to my room to talk. I first want to show him some pictures I found of me and him when we were little. Dom is sitting on my bed.
"What are you doing?" he asks

We are done looking at the pictures

"So what's up now. Why can't you get a boyfriend?" he asks

"I'm scared" I say
"Come on just tell me what is it" he says

He looks at me like I should explain that some more
"Um. I'm scared because I don't want to get hurt. I never got hurt before, I only kissed one boy, and I don't like all the jerks at our school" I say
"There are some nice guys" he says
I look at him with a yea-ok-who-is-nice-at-our-school kinda look
"Why are you looking at me like that" he says and smiles

"My whole family and all my friends are going to be so happy now since we are boyfriend and girlfriend" I say

Tomorrow is Tuesday and the theme is Disneyland. I am wearing a Disney shirt, shorts, and Minnie Mouse ears. I just have the cutest outfits.
It is morning, April 19th. I am walking to school with Dom now. He loves my outfit. He told me he wishes I was the real Minnie Mouse at Disneyland. What a flirt. Anyway today is going to be a lot of fun. My brother and Nick are dressing up as the chipmunks from Disney. We arrive at school and see them.
"Oh my gosh look who it is... Nick and Joe the chipmunks" I say and laugh
"Shut up Gianna you know we look good in these outfits" says Nick
"No you guys do look good .... So cute" I say
I look at Dominic and we both start hysterical laughing.
"We have some hot brothers Dom"
"Yes, yes we do" he says and laughs
"I'll see you at lunch" I tell Dom
"Alright"
At lunch I sit with Dom, Chrissie, Nick, Joe, and their girlfriends, and Dom's best friend Mike who is hooking up with Chrissie. I don't know if they are together or not but they are definitely "tweeners". That is my word for the in-between relationship.
"Chrissie, what is up?" I say
"Hey how was the walk today?"
"Nice. Did you see Nick and Joe?"
"Yes. They look so real" she says sarcastically
"Come on let's go to class" I say and laugh
After five classes it is finally time for lunch. I am starving. I buy lunch and sit down at our table outside. Dom is already sitting along with everyone else.
"Wow, I am usually the first one here every day... what is this?" I say
"The chipmunks needed to get first in line today Minnie" says Dom
I laugh and start to eat. He is so funny, and nice, and hot, and oh my gosh I want him.
"I can't wait until Friday" I say
"I love pep rally and homecoming" says Chrissie
"Does everyone have a date yet" says Joe
"Well we know you and Nick do and I am guessing Chrissie and Mike are going together" I say
"Do you have one yet" asks Joe
"No" I say
I know that Dom doesn't either and he never asked me go with him unless he is waiting but I don't know. Way to put us on the spot Joe.
Disneyland day is over and I am walking home with Dom
"So today is Tuesday, are you going to talk to me about you know, what we talked about yesterday or ..." says Dom
"Tomorrow after school you can come over my house and we will talk" I say
"Okay, sounds good. I will see you tomorrow" he says
CHAPTER 5
It is Wednesday morning. I am so nervous because today is the talk with Dom after school. In school the theme today is Scary Halloween Mask day. I am wearing my brothers mask. It is Chuckie. Really scary. I reach Dom's house. He is wearing a Jason mask.
"Wow Dom together we make a scary pair of monsters" I say
"I know these are like the two scariest masks, and the Freddie mask but ..." he says
"I bet like everyone is going to have the same masks on...either these or Freddie or Venom or whatever they are just all going to be the same" I say
"Yes... it is going to be scary today" he says
"I don't like mask day, its boring" I say
"It's alright I guess... so I am coming over after school still right?" he asks
"Yea, unless you have other plans it's ok I mean" I say
"No, I have no plans. I will be there" he says
"K"
"What's wrong?" asks Dom
"Nothing. Why?" I ask
"You just look like something is bothering you" he says
This kid always knows when something is wrong with me or if I am not feeling well. Whatever it is he could always tell.
"I'm just a little bit nervous, that's all"
"For what? The talk?"
I nod my head.
"Well whatever it is you can tell me, don't be nervous around me Gee. And also despite whatever happens later I want you to come to the homecoming dance with me because I have nobody else to go with and I want to take you this time, someone normal. So, will you go with me?" he asks
I look at him and smile. Then I nod my head and say yes.
I am so happy right now. I feel a little bit better about having the talk with Dom later. When I got to school everyone had mostly the same masks on. I was right. The day was pretty slow and boring too. I am now walking home from school and Dom is coming over. Time to talk.
"So do you want to talk now or wait until we get to your house?" he asks
"Wait." I say
We get home to my house and I bring him to my room to talk. I first want to show him some pictures I found of me and him when we were little. Dom is sitting on my bed.
"What are you doing?" he asks
"Hold on. I want to show you these. I found them the other day" I say as I bring the pictures over to him
"Pictures?" he says
"Open it" I say
"From when we were little. Oh my gosh look at us, we were so tiny" he says
He continues to look at the pictures. They range from age two to thirteen.
"We were so cute, what happened?" I say
"Nothing. We still are cute Gee what are you talking about" he says and laughs
We are done looking at the pictures
"Good times" he says
"Yea..."
"So what's up now. Why can't you get a boyfriend?" he asks
Oh no I guess I have to start talking sometime
"I'm scared" I say
"Come on just tell me what is it" he says
"That's it, I'm scared" I say
He looks at me like I should explain that some more
"Um. I'm scared because I don't want to get hurt. I never got hurt before, I only kissed one boy, and I don't like all the jerks at our school" I say
"There are some nice guys" he says
I look at him with a yea-ok-who-is-nice-at-our-school kinda look
"Why are you looking at me like that" he says and smiles
"Oh this is so hard for me to say" I tell him
"Spit it out Gee. Don't be afraid"
"There is only one nice guy at our school and that is you"
He looks at me for like one minute
"What? Stop staring at me" I say
"Truth or Dare?" he says
"Truth" I say
"Do you like me Gianna" he asks
"No... I love you though" I say
"Truth or Dare?" I ask him
"I remember this.. . dare" he says
"I dare you to..
And right then and there before I could even finish saying it, he kissed me and he kissed me good. We smile at each other
"Wow, that was nothing like the kiss you gave me when we were ten" I say
"Come here" he says and kisses me again
"One more round, truth or dare?" I say
"Truth" he says
"Do you like me Dom?" I ask
"Nah. I love you too Gianna" he says
I smile and kiss him
"My whole family and all my friends are going to be so happy now since we are boyfriend and girlfriend" I say
"Are we?... nah I'm just kidding of course we are. You are like my first real girlfriend"
"You are my first boyfriend" I say
"See I told you that you can get a boyfriend" he says
"Yea, but who would ever thought it would be you?" I say
He kisses me
"Come here look... look at this picture. I was saving it."
I show him a picture of us from my tenth birthday party. The day we kissed.
"You were the first boy I ever kissed Dom" I say
"I hope to be your last too" he says
We kiss again...boy this kid is like a kissing machine but I am so happy I don't even care. He can kiss me all he wants.
So Dom is finally my boyfriend and my plan worked. We went to homecoming together and had a lot of fun.
So what is it that all started when I was a little girl? You may ask this question and the answer is one simple but strong word... LOVE
I finally have my perfect love story...
