I quickly closed my mouth thank god no one had noticed. " Ahh and there is my soon to be bride," Thomas said beaming, " Marie, you already know my mother Lady Constance. Well these are my older brother's; Richard the second, John, Paul, Matthew, and Mark. The five men bowed to me and I curtseyed back. Hate had filled my heart as I noticed how much each of them looked like Black Richard. Thomas was the only one that didn't have his father's, his features were soft and lovely like his mother. I hoped that may be he wasn't really the son of the man I would kill.

Thomas lead me over to his Father; " And this is my father Lord Richard, he has just returned from battle." Thomas said with great pride. " Marie, Thomas has told me great things about you and your beauty is breathtaking, I must ask though; have we meet," Black Richard replied in his deep voice that cut my ears with each word he said. " I don't believe so my Lord," I replied hoping my feelings didn't come out in my voice. Black Richard stared at me for a little while longer. I wanted to say," My face is the same as my mother's, I am from Laclair the village you burned to the ground twelve years ago.

I have been waiting for twelve years to find you and now that I have, revenge will be mine." But I didn't I just sat down at the table next to Thomas, I took my dinner knife and twisted it under the table. It would take me 5 seconds to jump across the table and slit his throat; but I would loss Thomas forever and probable be killed my self. I tried to eat what was prepared; sweetbread, blood pudding, omlettes, bacon, apples, etc; but I had lost my appetite. I glanced around the table and Lady Constance's gaze on Black Richard seemed so familiar. There was so much hate, fear, loathing; that's when I knew it was the same look Sarah had on her face when she was almost raped.

Then all these thoughts ran threw my head; had he rapped her and made her bear his children. They all looked so much like him, except Thomas; he was the only one that didn't go to battle with his Father. Maybe he was the only one she didn't see Black Richard in. Maybe that's why she looked at him with love because all she saw was herself. My thoughts were interrupted by the evil voice of Black Richard. " Thomas, you have grown into a fine man, I would like you to fight at my side," My stomach dropped and so did Constance's. " Richard, Thomas is to stay here and learn the arts, he has gotten much respect from the King and Queen.

Besides he's getting married. " Woman hold your tongue before you dare interrupt; this conversation is one that does not need your opinion. " Wow father you do not know how long I have waited to fight alongside you, but Mother is right I am to be married." Thomas said staring at me. My heart felt a little better, but black Richard wasn't letting up. Then he asked for the women to leave the room. I looked back giving Thomas a worried glance. Would he fight alongside his father, if so would I have to fight the man I love to kill the man I hate. Would Thomas understand or would he want to avenge his father. These thoughts crossed my mind as I waited for the men to finish talking.

What would Thomas do? I paced back and forth my mind racing on what choice Thomas would make. "Are you ok Marie," Constance's sweet voice chimed in. "Lady Constance have you ever been in a situation where you didn't know what to do?" I whispered. "Many times," She said with hurt in her eyes. "How did you decide what to do?" I asked hopefully. "There is a wise man in the hills beyond our land, I told him my story and he helped me. Go past the forest into the valley and up the hills, on the highest hill there is a cave and that's where you will find him." Constance whispered.

"That's my story and how I was able to find you. Will you help me please?" I begged the old man. " Marie, first you have to understand that no one can plan their life, it will eat at you with each problem that comes your way, with each time things don't go according to your plan, understand that life has a plan of its own. Thomas will fight alongside his ather. His father has filled his head with lies; and there is nothing that can change this now. When you return they will be gone and you find that Thomas thought your ran again. You will travel and find an army of your own, go to the Queen she will help you. This battle decides the fate of the kingdom.

Victory will be decided with your choice of love or revenge. The choice is yours." Said the man before he disappeared behind a cloud of smoke. It was as if he had never been there at all. The cave was empty; the table that was once there had vanished along with all the potions and bottles. I was confused on what he had said. Was it true had Thomas left? I had to find out; I quickly mounted Nobel and headed for Thomas's. It had become dark but I pushed Nobel anyway I wouldn't stop until I knew what happened. I arrived at their estate to find Lady Constance crying on the porch; that's when I knew the old man had been right.

She told me she was too late and that she wasn't able to talk to Thomas before he left; one of her servants told her that he was saddened by the fact that I had run again. She said she knew it was a lie and that Black Richard had convinced him that I didn't want to marry him and if he wanted to join his army that they had to leave right away. My heart dropped, when I meet them again would I choose my revenge or leave it all behind for love. Would I let the man that killed my mother live just to be with the man I love, or would I kill black Richard at the cost of losing the only man who truly knows and understands me. What am I going to do?
Do you think Marie will choose love or revenge?
