My Mother's Killer - Ch. 25

Marie Sinclair was 7 when her mother was killed in front of her. From that moment on she planned her life around revenge. Little does she know life has a plan all its own. This is the end of the battle I only have one more chapter for this story that will be posted after Christmas.
In the distance I could see Thomas fighting Richard the second, they both were pretty well matched. Just then Paul rushed over to me trusting his sword at my heart, I jumped out of the way and in one quick slice I took off his head. I heard a scream come from John, "Die!" he screamed as he threw a spear towards me. I sliced the spear the two pieces fell to the floor in an instant; then he came rushing towards me. "I don't die that easy," I said with a smirk. John began circling me trying to study my every step. I would throw him off by cart wheeling back. Then he made his move; he trusted his sword towards me. The clinging of our swords began ringing in my ear. I heard three arrows wiz past me and a loud thud. All of a sudden Johns blows became more powerful and I could see anger in his eyes. I circled around him then saw the body of Matthew with three arrows piercing his heart.

Abby is an excellent shot. I saw Paul rush over to fight Thomas just as he sliced open Richard the second. That was my mistake because just then John slashed at me and I was a little slow to get out of the way. I stared at my arm it wasn't cut to bad so I jabbed my sword back at him he knocked it away. It was going back and forth; slash block thrust block jab block. I then saw my opening his steps seemed weak on his left leg; so when he slashed at me I ducked and slashed at his left leg taking him down then used a final strike to end it fast. I scanned the courtyard to see where Black Richard was he was a Meer seven feet away. Thomas was three feet away and had just taken out Paul; Black Richard grabbed a bow and arrow from one of the bodies on the floor and began to point it at Thomas. So now here was my choice Revenge or love. If I went after Richard he would have already shot of the arrow and Thomas could die.

If I go towards Thomas I could die. It was as if everything started to move in slow motion. As Richard pulled back the arrow I didn't think I just reacted and everything began moving so fast. I ran as fast as I could and pushed Thomas out of the way. Richards arrow pierced threw my armor just below my neck. I felt a sight pinch it didn't hurt like I thought it would. " Noooo..." Screamed Thomas and he quickly attached Richard. "You see even ghosts can die," Richard snarled at me. Thomas began frantically slashing and thrusting his sword at Richard. Richard blocked his every move with ease. Richard used the same move as earlier and used the butt of his sword it his Thomas in the face knocking him to the floor. Richard stood over him and raised his sword ready to slash downward. I quickly broke the arrow that pierced me and got to my feet. I reached into my boot and grabbed my dagger.

I flung it as hard as I could at black Richard piercing his stomach. " You forget I'm not a ghost!" I replied. Just then Thomas got to his feet and sliced at Richard Taking off his head. Thomas quickly rushed over to me. "Marie, are you ok?" he questioned. "I'm fine it doesn't hurt." I said. I lifted up my chain metal to see that the arrow had struck the heart pendant my father had made for me." Wow, your lucky one inch over and it would have pierced you." Thomas replied. "Why did you do that Marie, you could have died?" Thomas said as his eyes stared deep into my soul. "I don't know I just reacted, I've been waiting twelve years for revenge but I guess when it came down to it you were more important." I said begging to cry.

I didn't know why I was crying for so long I prided my self on being strong, but all my walls came crumbling down as I stared into his blue eyes. "I just don't understand how you could believe your father about me?" I asked. "I don't know all I know is that that's behind us and were together now and I just want to move on and spend the rest of my life with you. I just hope that you don't ever think I would become like my father." Thomas said with tears coming out of his eyes. "I never will, you are nothing like him, you are a good man. I'm just sorry you had to find out like this and take his life. I know that had to be hard for you." I replied while I stroked his head. " You know he was my father but I've never really known him, I regret it because he is my father but I don't, because he needed to be stopped." Thomas said while he grabbed my hand, "This isn't over we still have a huge army out there but I have a plan." Thomas went over to Black Richards corpse; he grabbed a spear and stuck Richards head on top of it. " Open the gate and stay here," he replied. "No.. I follow you, we fight together." I stammered. " I'm hoping this will end it." Thomas said as he approached the gate.

The gate began to open, I whistled for Nobel and mounted him and quickly grabbed the spear from Thomas. "Marie... no..." Screamed Thomas. Nobel jumped around the dead bodies of my men. There was bloodshed everywhere and our numbers were depleting fast. " Black Richard is dead," I shouted as I weaved in and out of soldiers. "Drop your weapons now or end up like his sons, dead in a pool of blood." I cried out. "If you don't start I will release the king's army from behind the castle walls," I lied. As soon as I said that from all over the battlefield Black Richards men threw down their swords and threw up their arms.

In the distance I saw the old man from the hill, I made my way over to him. "Ahhh Marie I see you have chosen Love." He said in a raspy voice. " I still don't understand how my choice decided the fate of the kingdom." I said bewildered. " Marie, the arrow you took would have killed Thomas, he is the last living heir of Black Richard the son of our late King. If you would have killed Richard first both would die and the crown would go to the late Kings nephew. Do you understand know?" the old man replied. I stared back at Thomas and when I looked back at the old man he had vanished.
