My Mini Me

My little sister Kinzie is probably the most important person in my life. I wasn’t blessed by a perfect mother who cares or has a heart...so I grew up without a mother's love. My sister is better than I. I couldn’t let her go through my pain, so I took on the role of a teenage mother. She’s more of a daughter than a sister. And I am not ready for her to leave the nest...
Watching over her
Protecting her from harm,
Keeping her beautiful smile here with me
Her thoughts unalarmed.

I am paranoid day and night
For someday, something may happen,
Nailing her to me becomes a constant struggle and fight
As she begins to weave her way through life.

She’s growing up too quickly
Wanting to explore the world,
The older she gets, the more she forgets
How much danger the world beholds.

Watching her every move
She’s helpless, weak, and fragile
She has something she wants to prove
But letting her free is not gradual.

She is a rainbow of colors stewing
Bright, cheerful, always looking forward
Optimistic as can be, she sees no wrongdoing
If only she could she what she’s in for.

Today’s world is not safe for perfection
Perfection is just what she is,
So I am to guide her to protection
For she is my lil sis...
