My Little Song Bird
Sonnet about love, what else is new right?
Daylight begins to rise, but today it's superfluous; premature,
In a rare instance I entice the dark sky to linger a little longer,
But as with my love, she drifts away like withering allure,
And the dancing grass in the morning glow are suddenly somber.
Come back, dark sky, and let me live in your mystery,
I want to rain on my love so she seeks shelter again in my arms.
What say you, my little song bird? What about misery?
Come to your perch; my familiar finger means no harm.
Your melancholy melody tells me you sense my mood,
Can't you sense the goodness in my heart, or is it too broken?
Even you shy away on this day when I tempt the moon,
But your song resonates the words to my love unspoken.
Circumstances aside, I will say it is one of your best,
But today my wise little song bird, stay in your nest.
