My Hero

Barbara Jarvis taught many many things and I wanted a few of them to be shared with those who need to hear. I learned a great deal about life from her. She helped me to understand how to handle some things. She had a great amount of wisdom and, sometimes, I wonder if anyone else ever saw her the way I did. Somehow, I don't think that is possible. Here is a poem a wrote for her and I think that she will still be able to hear it even though she is not present.

My Hero

I learned from her strength
Her courage often astounded me
Perseverance was her life
A never ending struggle to rise about
Society's expectations

Advice shared by her
Contained wisdom and confidence
To her I was transparent
My problems were often seen
Though she would never say a word

With her presence came understanding
With her words knowledge
And with that knowledge came faith
These are the reasons along with many more
That Barbara Jarvis was and will always be...
