My Goodbye To You

A true story...
Well I guess it’s safe to say
That true love isn’t what we had
It was a little late notice
And believe me when I say I’m sad

Those 15 things you loved about me
Don’t matter anymore
All the things that were said
They are right out the door

I don’t want your gifts
You can have them back
Although you’ll probably have a fit
When you see the pieces in the bag

If you think about it it’s funny
You said it was me who couldn’t be trusted
That in the long run I would find a new honey
But I’m not the one who came out busted

You said that if all you had was me
You would be happy
Apparently there was a fee for more time
How come no one told me

I know it sounds like I’m bitter
And part of me is
But how do you expect me to sound
If all I do is think the past bliss

Don’t think I’m trying to hurt you
Because that is not what I want to do
I hope you know I loved you
But that’s all through

I know me and you are over for good
Even though I didn’t want it to end this way
I wouldn’t restart time even if I could
You’re with her now and I want her to be okay

So this is my goodbye to you
I’ll never forget what we had
A new tide will come in
And soon I’ll no longer be sad
