My Golden Adventure
It's about a boy and girl who find a great adventure, one summer on an island.
I
Let me tell you about a certain summer, when I lived with my aunt and uncle.
It was the best summer ever.
It all started at my uncle John's summer camp, 'Camp Treasure Island.'
How it got its name I'm not sure, something about a legend, but I don't know.
Any way, it started on a bright, sunny, day. I was in the chow hall with my Aunt Joeanne, making brunch for all the calpers. Aunt Joe (that's her nickname) had salt and pepper colored hair streaked with red.
She had it up in a messy bun. She was wearing a white apron with lit tow stains here and there. She stood beside me busingly putting bread into baskets and fruit into bowls. I was gathering the eggs from a pan and putting them in big, medal containers on the counter in front of me.
At that moment my uncle John came in the front door his face was all red and flushed. Uncle had close chopped brown hair a few inches taller than me, and kept himself in shape. My Uncle John came in the main door calling "Farrah,'' He looked like he had been running. ''Fairrah, oh there you are.'' He said walking up to me.''Don't forget you need to be here when the campers arrive,'' He said puffing a little.
''I've been here all the time.'' I said chopping vegetables, and putting them into bowls.
''Well, I came to say I really need you to be here before the campers arrive. Because you have to make the speech and introduction, to tell the kids right here in the chow hall.''
''I'll be here, don't worry.'' I said garbing my shoulder bag and going out the side door.
''They coming at nine!'' Uncle yelled, to reminded me.
I headed to the far side of the camp clearing, walking straight into pure jungle.
I think it's about myself. Well, I have brown hair with red highlights. (I'm part Irish)
I have very unusual eyes, their brown most of the time, but when I get mad they turn green. I have tan skin (I'm outside a lot) and long legs, which comes in handy because I love to run. I also have a little shell on a chain around my neck that I found on the beach. I also love swimming in the ocean cove with the dolphins, they are like my pets.
As I walked through the undergrowth, admiring lush green leaves and beautiful tropical flowers. I thought about how different it would be with all the kids running around, and disturbing the quiet, tranquil nature of the island. 'I won't be able to have the island to myself any more. (selfish much) It's not fair.' I thought angrily.
'If uncle didn't have money problems this wouldn't have happened.'
As I was walking, I could hear the rear of the ocean getting louder, until I finely emerged out of the jungle and onto the beach. I took a deep breath and let the sweet, salty air fill my lungs. Then I just stood there gazing out over the beautiful crystal clear ocean.
I never got tired of that view.
