My Golden Adventure: Chapter 5

Sorry it took so long. I was working on two other stories that should be better than this one.
''What do you want Jacob.'' I hated that smug look on his face.

''I just came over to talk.'' he said still smirking.

''Ya, well I'm buzy and I don't want to talk.'' I turned and looked the way Alex had gone.

''Oh, come on, I just want to spend some quality.... alone time with you.'' I turned back to face him and found he was coming closer to me, I tried to scoot away but I tripped over a log and fell back on my butt.

''Oh let me help you.'' His voice was soooo smiley.

''No, get away from me!!'' I yelled as he was taking my arm.

''Is there a problem here?'' I looked up to see Alex, thank God.

''No. Miss Fairah tripped and I was just helping her up.''

''I don't need help.'' I ripped my arm out of his hand while standing.

''No need to get testy, I was just trying to be a gentleman.'' He took a step back, with the same look on that smug face of his.

''Your no gentleman.'' I mumbled dusting off my pants.

''Who are you anyway?'' Alex asked, taking a step forward and standing next to me.

''My name is Jacob Silver. I am here with my father on business.'' The look on his face was serious now.

''What kind of business?'' Alex questioned again, advancing another step forward.

''Like I'm going to tell you.'' He crossed his arms.

''I'll find out with or without you telling me.'' Alex said, spiting out the words like venom.

I didn't want there to be a fight, so I decided Alex and I should leave. ''Come on Alex, lets go.'' I said tugging on his arm.

''No need, I'll leave.'' said Jacob, he bowed turned around and walked away.

Alex watched him leave then said ''I don't trust that guy.'' Then he turned towards me. ''And what's this 'business' that his father came for?''

''I think I know. Come on.'' I grabbed his hand and started to run through the jungle.

''Where are we going?'' Alex questioned.

''Somewhere safe,'' We had stopped running and now stood in front of a big tree. I went around to the side and pulled a vine that hung from it. When I pulled the vine a secret door opened. ''Follow me and try to keep up.''

I started to climb a rope latter which was inside the hollowed out old, tree trunk. I was about 5 feet up, when looking down I saw that Alex was just standing at the bottom. ''Are you coming or what?'' I called down to him, then started to climb again. I could feel the latter shake under me and I knew he was climbing.

Once I reached the top I gassed down at Alex who was having a little trouble with his footing. I held out my hand to help him up, he took it thankfully. The top of the tree was a good hundred feet up, hidden by the branches of other trees. Once he was on his feet I pulled a rope that hung off to the side, which closed the secret door. Straight ahead of us, was a rope bridge that led to a big circular tree house, and behind that was a smaller one. Encircling both of them was a wooden walkway.

''Wow.'' Alex said ''What is this place?''

''I found it when I was exploring the jungle one summer and it been my secret ever since. You are the first person that I've shown this to,.....my Aunt and Uncle don't even know about this place.'' I looked at him and saw that he was grinning ear to ear.
''Really?'' He looked at me, blushed and then looked down.
''Yeah,'' I was blushing too. ''Now come on.'' and I ran across the bridge to the door of the first house, praying that he didn't see me blush. I opened the door and ran to the opposite wall that had shelves with a bunch of scrolls on it. I took one down, spread it over a table and started to study it. Alex had finally come through the door, and walked over to me.

''Whats that?'' He pointed to the paper I was studying.

''This is a map of the entire island.'' I said while tracing lines on the map. ''There you are.'' I said to myself.

''What is it?'' He leaned over so that he could get a better look.

''This cave on the north side of the island. It's the only one I haven't explored yet,....... hmmm I wonder.'' I thought out loud.

''Wonder what?'' Alex asked clearly confused.

''Come on.'' I grabbed the map and started to run, (yet again) out the door.

''Where are we going this time?'' Called Alex behind me, trying to keep up.

''To that cave, I have to find out something.'' I got to the rope that opened the secret door, pulled it and started to climb down the latter. When I was a couple of feet away from the ground I jumped, landed on my feet and waited patiently for Alex. Once Alex was down we went outside and I closed the secret door. ''Okay we have to go this way.'' I pointed north. We started to walk briskly towards the beach.

''What is it about this cave?'' Alex asked

''I'm not sure. But, there is something there, I just know it.''

We stopped to take a small rest, because Alex was out of breath from the walk. I was looking at the map when I herd a sound. ''Shhh, did you hear that?'' I asked Alex, while putting the map in my fanny pack that I had around my waist.

''No, I don't think so.''

''Fairrah. Come out, come out where ever you are.''

''Thats Jacob! No, no, no, not good.'' I was not going to talk to him again. ''This way.'' I whispered to Alex. Ducking behind trees and bushes, we practically crawled on the ground trying to get away from him.

''Come on Fairrah, I just want to have a private talk with you.'' I herd him moving closer.

''We have to make a brake for it.'' I whispered, ''On the count of three. One,... two,... three.'' At the same time we hopped up and started to run. Me being in front and Alex following. We headed for the beach.

''Hey!'' I herd Jacob yell, but I ignored him and just ran.

We reached the beach and I could hear him right behind us. We were standing on a small ledge and underneath the water was nice and deep. ''Were going to have to jump.'' I told Alex.

''What?'' He stared at me like I was crazy.

''Can't you swim?''

''Well, yeah but-''

''One the count of three, one-'' Just then Jacob bust threw the forest. ''Three!'' And we both dove into the water.
