My Favorite Supplements to Lower and Stabilize Blood Sugar
Many people have the misconception that blood sugar regulation is only a concern for diabetics, and while diabetics do have to be sure to pay very close attention to this, healthy people who do not have diabetes would also benefit from a regular stable blood sugar free of extreme highs and lows. Spikes and dips in blood sugar can cause sugary carb cravings, headaches, moodiness, and many other symptoms, and these symptoms can and do occur in non-diabetics. However, these symptoms are exaggerated in a person with diabetes, but in a diabetic they can lead to a very scary situation.
For everyone, non-diabetics and diabetics alike, these highs and lows can be somewhat controlled by diet. However, to boost the effects of the diet and control blood sugar a lot more efficiently you can add a supplement to your diet and stabilize your blood sugar to a level that allows you body to function better. There are several herbal supplements that are great at stabilizing, and supporting blood sugar, let’s talk about a few of my favorites…
The first and by far the most popular is Cinnamon.
Cinnamon: has been tested, time and time again, for its positive effects on blood sugar. A clinical study published in 2003, in a Diabetes Care medical journal, stated that taking a daily supplement of cinnamon for just 40 days at 1, 3, or 6 gram doses completely, and consistently, lowered the fasting blood glucose(blood sugar) by 19-29% in all subjects. Not to mention it also lowered triglycerides by 23 to 30%, LDL cholesterol by 7 to 27%, and total cholesterol by 12 to 26%. These are amazing results for one little supplement.
Another great blood sugar regulator is a combination supplement that will aid in keeping you healthy, and stabilizing blood sugar levels, it is called Gluco-science.
Gluco-Science: is a combination of all sorts of beneficial vitamins, minerals, and herbs to help your body naturally stabilize blood sugar and maintain it. This is a virtual wonder supplement for people with diabetes as it is not only great at lowering blood sugar, but it also possesses powerful circulatory and vascular health benefits, as well as neurological and vision function support.
These two supplements are just two of my favorites; there are plenty of other vitamins and herbs that are excellent at lowering/stabilizing blood glucose levels. You can find a complete list of these blood sugar supporting herbs and supplements at N101.
