My Body Cold As Stone

Do I see you standing there?
With the blade almost to the bone
You staring with eyes of tears
My body cold as stone

I can tell you are full of fear
And hope that I notice you there
But I will continue to cut myself
my skin, cold and bare

You want to yell and scream out loud
But you are so surprise and full of fear
I still have not noticed you yet
From the corner of your eye, a slip from a tear

You finally make a noise, a high pitched squeak
I turn my head and scream
I did not want you to know my secret
This is not what it seems

But it's too late
You're already on the phone
With the hospital
Telling them the address of our home

With a siren screeching
And a worried mother at the door
I manage to get myself
Almost falling to the floor

You pick me up
And hand me to a strong man
carrying me into the ambulance
The hospital they reach, they can.

I do not want to look at my wrists
All covered in bandages of all colors
I am painfully ashamed of myself
Let this be a warning to all mothers.
