Chapter 3: They Just Click

*Jocelyn

"Wow. Your school has a huge cafeteria." I said with shock to Kat walking beside me.
"What? Australia doesn't have a cafeteria this size?" Kat asked whilst laughing.
"My school in Australia doesn't have a cafeteria." I told her. She gave me a shocked look.
"So the students just have to always bring their own lunch, they can't buy?" Kat asked.
"We have a canteen. You can buy food from there and then sit wherever you please. Except for outside the school boundaries."

"So you don't have a room for eating lunch in?" Kat asked. I nodded a 'no'. "Wow." Kat whispered.
We walked over to what seemed to be their tuck-shop and placed food on our trays for lunch. I grabbed two slices of pizza and a small coke bottle. Kat grabbed a plate of salad and a bottle of water. I don't understand how girls can eat so lightly. Even if it is for their figure. I like my food and actually have a big appetite. I couldn't care less.
"So if I wasn't here... who would you be hanging out with?" I asked Kat as we sat down at a table.
"I normally just grab lunch, eat and head off to my next class. My optional classes are quite far from the cafeteria so I try take time from lunch to spend it walking to class." Kat shrugged.

"Oh. Well, don't let me delay you from that. If you want to leave early, feel free to." I assured her.
"It's cool. And besides, you seem nice. I like hanging with you." Kat smiled.
"Thanks, likewise." I smiled back.
"People don't really like hanging with me anymore." Kat said whilst having a look like as though she was sad but didn't want to show it.
"Why not?" I asked confused.
"There was this huge drama thing that happened a while ago and people never looked at me the same way again." She explained.
"Wow, I'm sorry. What happened?" I asked.

"I'd rather not say. Maybe another time." She said quietly.
"Sure."
"I'm sorry, it's just... you're new and I hardly know you. So, I don't know whether you're trustworthy and I don't really want to risk the first day of meeting you finding out." Kat apologized. I nodded with a faint smile.
"I totally understand. It must've really affected you and I wouldn't expect much of you." I told her. She smiled.
"Thank you. You seem somewhat... humble." She laughed. I laughed as well. "As weird as that may sound." Kat laughed.
I looked at my plate and realized I'd forgotten a napkin. I slowly rose out of my seat.
"I'm just going to get myself a napkin." I informed Kat. She nodded, "Sure."

"Do you need anything while I'm up?" I asked her. She nodded.
"No thanks."
"Ok, I'll be right back." I told her.
I moved back from my seat and turned to walk to get the napkin. I turned and suddenly crashed into somebody. We managed to stay standing and didn't drop anything 'cause we didn't have anything in our hands. I had my back faced towards them and couldn't see them. The person managed to lightly grab my hands to stabilize me. Their hands felt strong but calming and made me feel a sudden warmth. The person turned me around to face them.
"I'm so sor-" I started to apologize but I got a front view of the person and immediately stopped. I couldn't believe it. I stood there in awe.

*Adam

"It's you." I whispered with shock as I revealed the girl that crashed into me in the cafeteria. I had immediately recognized her from the other day when I collided with her at the mall. We both stood there in shock and just stared at one another. Huh. Who would've thought.
I looked at her face. She was beautiful. She had elegant hair and smooth, fair skin. Her eyes carried sincerity and beauty as she looked at you. I looked down to see that I still had hold of her hands. She looked down and saw it too. She immediately let go and apologized with a smile. I smiled back.

"I think we need a proper introduction." I laughed. She laughed back. She had a sweet laugh.
"I agree. Collision is fun but a proper one would be nice." She laughed. I laughed along.
"I'm Adam. Adam Merque (Mer-Kay)." I held out my hand with a smile. She smiled and shook my hand.
"I'm Jocelyn. Jocelyn-" She was just about to tell me her surname when Luke appeared. She gently let go of my hand.
"Hey guys. Good to see that you're introducing yourselves." Luke smiled.
"You know him?"

"You know her?" We both asked Luke about each other at the same time. Luke looked confused.
"So you haven't fully introduced each other yet?" Luke asked. We both nodded a 'no'.
"Oh!" Luke laughed and then put his arm around her shoulder.
"Adam, this is my sister. The one I told you was coming the other day?" Luke reminded me.
"Jocelyn... Matrelle?" I asked her in shock. She nodded. "Oh my god. You guys look nothing alike! I never would've guessed." I said shocked.

"We get that a lot." Luke and Jocelyn laughed at the same time. I laughed along. "Plus, you're stunning. Luke... isn't so much." I teased. Jocelyn and I both laughed. She smiled at me in a way to say thanks.
"Well, excuse me... but I'm hotter than both of you put together." Luke said taking his arm off Jocelyn.
"Yeah yeah." She rolled her eyes and then laughed. I smiled.
"So, where are you sitting?" Luke asked Jocelyn.
"With me." We all turned to see Kat behind us.

"Oh! So sorry Kat!" Jocelyn apologized as she moved to stand next to Kat. "Um, Kat, this is my brother Luke and this is Adam. Who I've just met as well." She laughed and looked at me. I smiled at her. Kat smiled and shook hands with me and Luke.
"Nice to meet you." Luke said politely to Kat.
"Most people wouldn't think so." Kat mumbled whilst rolling her eyes.
"Oh, what? 'Cause of that drama incident way back? Sheesh." Luke complained. "It doesn't matter. You're not set out to be what other people want you to be." Luke shrugged. Kat had a look of somewhat amazement towards Luke. I felt like nudging my elbow against his ribs and winking.

"Yeah, thanks." She whispered. I swear she was blushing. I smiled hugely and gave a look to Jocelyn. She knew what I was thinking. I could tell from her smirk that she was thinking it too. It's great how she just automatically knew what I meant by just one facial expression.
Luke shrugged. "Sure thing." He was then smiling back at Kat. Sincerely.
"Um, do you guys want to join us?" Jocelyn asked with a smile. "It's just me and Kat. I wouldn't mind. Especially 'cause Luke is my brother. Is that alright Kat?" She looked at Kat and Kat instantly nodded a 'no' meaning she didn't mind. I'm guessing that it was mostly 'cause of Luke.
"So do you guys want to?" Jocelyn asked as she gave me a sweet smile. I loved her smile. It was big and meaningful.

"Well, I wouldn't mind." I shrugged with a smile. "How about you Lu-" I asked just as I saw him already sitting next to Kat chatting. I laughed. Unbelievable. Jocelyn laughed as well and nodded her head from side to side.
"Well, I was just about to get a napkin before this whole introduction so I'll be back." Jocelyn said before putting her bag down and starting to walk away.
"Jocelyn. Mind if I come with?" I asked her.
"I'm just going to get a napkin." She laughed.
"I know, just thought it would be a good walk." She looked unconvinced. "And besides, thought it would be a good set up." I whispered and then nodded towards Kat and Luke. She smirked.

"Sure thing. I could do with the company." I smiled and dropped my bag beside Kat and Luke. I got up and joined Jocelyn. She smiled at me.
"So how do you like the school do far?" I asked her.
"It's cool, there's so much going on. In Australia we're lucky to get one big event every month. Your school seems like everyday." She laughed. I laughed along.
"Yeah, gets a bit tiring though." I replied with a shug.
"I bet. So what are you in the school? Are you a jock or something?" She asked with small laughter.
"No, I'm one of the fun, chilled back guys. I uh, I'm a surfer." I said with a smile.
"You surf?!" She gasped.

"Um, yeah?" I chuckled with a quite confused look on my face.
"I'm so jealous! When I was in Aus, I was always keen on learning but I didn't end up taking any lessons until the last few weeks. I didn't learn that much." Jocelyn explained in envy.
"Yeah, your brother and I are the chilled back surfers." I told her. She had an unconvinced look.
"Luke? Seriously?"
"Yeah, he's just as good as I am. But don't tell him that, it'll go to his head." I laughed.
"Yeah, knowing Luke." She rolled her eyes and then laughed. I liked her sense of humor, sarcastic but it had no bad intentions and was funny. "I would love to know how to surf." She admitted whilst having a sincere look of admiration.

"I'll teach you." I offered. She looked at me with widened eyes.
"Really?" She asked.
"Sure! Luke and I always go to the beach and surf the waves. You could join us and I'll give you lessons. Luke would be there too so he could teach you as well." I told her. She had a huge smile full of hope and happiness.
"Oh my goodness, I would love that. Thank you."
"Sure thing." I smiled back. We reached the counter and she grabbed herself some napkins. We turned around and started walking back towards our table.

"Is that weird?" She asked me.
"Is what weird?" I asked her.
"I just met you and we're already arranging surfing lessons." She laughed. I laughed as well.
"Not at all. We both have a mutual friend: your brother. And that could just mean that we click." I smiled. She smiled back at me.
"I feel that way."
"So do I."

I'm so sorry! It's been ages! I just run a very occupied life and needed to attend to it. There should be a picture of Adam in this chapter... If not, many apologies, my comp. Somehow doesn't allow it :/ hope you understand and like this chapter (: I love you all.
