Music Never Dies - 3
Bryony and Mazie find out just how powerful they are.
Bryony and Mazie walked through the hallways after school together. Bryony was daydreaming about Madelyn, the ghost they had met the day before and had given them powers to protect her living sister. They hadn't used them yet since they had no idea what kind of powers they had. Her daydreaming was interrupted by a strange glow just barely within her visual range. She looked down at the pearl bracelet Madelyn had given her to see every one of the perfectly rounded gems glowing a radiant pink. She looked over at Mazie, who was watching her as her own bracelet also glowed. Bryony pointed to her bracelet and made a touching motion. Mazie understood and nodded, and they both touched a pearl of their bracelets.
In a flash, they were whirled away to another location. They stood amazed on a sidewalk, watching the road. A girl with light brown hair walked through the road, her eyes on her cell phone. Bryony had just recognized this person to be Madison when Mazie let out a gasp.
A red car barreled through the road on the left, nearly crashing into the other vehicles. They began to understand why they were here, but neither wanted to go into the road.
"What if we die?" Mazie yelled as the car got closer to Madison's area of the road.
"We have to save her! Just try to use your powers!" Bryony yelled just as the car was just few feet from Madison, who had just noticed it.
Mazie screamed as the car rolled past right where Bryony's legs were. She couldn't believe it had happened so fast. But then she saw Bryony on the ground, perfectly fine. Her face was white and her eyes were closed. She opened them and gasped. She was still alive!
Mazie ran into the road to help Bryony and Madison up. "I can't believe it! How did you do that?"
"I just wished that I was invincible and then I was!" Bryony said, her eyes tearing up.
"Thank you!" Madison exclaimed. Her eyes were wide and filled with wonder and awe. "You saved me and you even survived!"
"That's our new job." Bryony told her, a smile coming to her face.
Madison stood confused as Bryony and Mazie touched their pearl bracelets. Just like that, they were gone.
