Mumbai Terrorist Attacks: Rebuilding the Taj!
Terror and terrorists need to be handled not just with more weapons, they need to be attacked from several different angles ...
I have been a Mumbai resident all my life, however, like millions of other Mumbaikars I never had the opportunity of visiting the Taj, (I did visit The Oberoi once though). Whether The Taj was a Mumbai landmark before, I am not aware of. All I am aware about the building - that it is a beautiful building (from the outside) and more beautifully decorated on the inside - a place where only the moneyed can go.
Terror attacks have been able to shake Mumbai and its people. Largest damage was the loss of life and not the destroyed Taj. Somehow, lives become cheaper and the Taj became all more important after these attacks. Terror tours are becoming more common just to check out the damage.
There are many talk shows and the elite doing the talking. Media is playing a good role when it comes down to multiplying the deep building resentment and sadness amongst people. The fact remains, terrorists will keep on coming back and attacking because they feel they are winning, is it not the case?
Not just Mumbai it applies to every place around the country. Terrorists will breed on your agony and sadness. (For those who have read certain children’s books you will feel something common between the terrorists and ‘dementors’). It is important to notice, when you get sad they get happy.
For this mind game, no laws, no reforms, no arms will be of any use. World over it needs to be shown to the terrorists that they cannot win. Their perverse and disgusting ideas are not here to stay. Killing of innocents especially those without any weapons or ability to put any resistance are not to be killed. No God in world has ever agreed to killing of innocents, and I am sure Allah must be really ashamed of himself that his followers are doing what he may detest the most.
Terrorism is an idea of the few, who use innocents, job less, hungry, downtrodden to get their dirty deeds done. This mind game therefore needs to be played not by the puppets sent to killed, but those who plan and create these events. Mind games against the terrorists need to show them, no one in the world really thinks anything great of them. In fact terrorism is just a fad and will fade fast enough.
So then we move back to the Taj again. If The Taj has become a landmark and a symbol of the terror attacks, I would urge the Government and the elite to build four more Taj. All as beautiful and as gorgeous as this one is, this will be an action enough to show the terrorists our morale does not suffer with their ideologies and carnage.
The world around them is constructive, life is normal. Playing down incidents of terrorism would be a good idea in times like this. In fact, the media too needs to stop holding talk shows where someone turns very angry and someone suddenly looks smug.
Terrorism is just the mind game; end it with optimism, constructiveness and creativity. Again it is also important we do not call terrorist by the word terrorist (why give a boost to their morale by calling them something scary). Instead call them something really hilarious – how does ‘cowards’ sound?
