Move Along... 28 (Finale!)

Even when your hope is gone, move along. I've kept that in my head for years. Ever since the outbreak. Still have a set of fangs? Well, not for long!

TRIKHA-Thanks!

Tavita K-Well, thank you!

Chenzira-Thanks. Never heard that name before, thanks again!

Emily Morgan-My fail. I meant wolves. Dork at heart, I suppose.

Lol X-Thanks!

Bethany Fellows-Lol. He's in it at the beginning! Gaia's this cute little website, well, you'd have to look it up. No Facebook--mainly because my Dad's on there, we aren't fond of each other, and he does NOT need to know some of the people I hang out with--but I may email you. Maybe...

Emily Green-So many questions. Might get some answers.

Rachel T.-Lol. I'm guessing action as fighting and stuff? Not much of a fighter, but this should be an interesting chapter.

Two hours later, we were all in the huge library talking about my plan. "Well," Adrian noted, "It's not they wouldn't have some form of guards there with them. The elders never go anywhere without their guards."

"But, why would they just find a human as a threat?" I questioned him. He sighed.

"How would we get the to bite themselves?" Jax wondered aloud.

"Fire alarm?" I asked. Everybody looked at me. "Well, if we put just a little bit of human blood into the water tank they keep for the fire alarms, then they would go into some vampire frenzy, right? And if the blood was on another vampire..."

Jax patted me on the back. "Then they would all turn human."

Elizabeth looked at Jax. "But I thought they had to bite themselves?"

Jax shrugged. "Well, you can, and you could bite another vampire with the cure in their veins, I didn't have very many contestants willing with me, so I used what I could manage."

We all nodded slowly. I looked at Adrian. "Are you sure every vampire will be there?"

"At a ceremony sponsored by Illosovich? Of course. She'd kill anybody who wouldn't come, your only excuse to not be there is death. She always held a huge ceremony for finding a huge supply of humans. They'll barter over them and whatnot," he replied, looking down at the ground.

"What about the ones in prison? Like Alexander?" I asked Elizabeth.

She shrugged. "We can just kill them ourselves. Anybody in that prison deserves to die."

I shuddered. "Okay." We all suddenly knew what our mission was.

I nervously tucked a strand of dark hair under my hat as I tried to carry the cups into the dining area. I had already poured a shot of serum into each cup, in every drink of the vampire here today. I was the kid responsible for carrying the drinks, to each of the two hundred vampires in the dining area. I was doing a great job; my shoulder was going to need some repair, but they didn't seem to notice. The drinks were white wine with a shot of blood, ew, and, unknown to them, the cure. All the cups were silver, so the glowing blue didn't stand out much to my eyes. And, apparently, not much to the vampires, since they didn't seem to notice.

I finally carried the last four cups to the ones at the end, the head, of the table. Lady Illosovich, Liam, Thaddeus, and, wow, didn't expect that one, Alexander were sitting at the table.

I handed each one of them their drinks, head down, avoiding any contact like they were my masters and I wasn't worthy, and started to back away. I lifted my eyes. Alexander was looking at me in amusement. "So," he said aloud. "We have a pet of my cousins'. Where would Adrian and Elizabeth be on this fine day, hm?" He took a sip of wine after he asked.

I didn't answer. Lady Illosovich looked at me. "You may speak, child."

I had asked Adrian what killed vampires in case this came up. "My Masters were killed, heads chopped off my a group of vampie hunters."

"How many?" Liam asked, his voice as cold as his dark eyes and frost-white hair.

I shook my head. "I do not know, it's a guess, really. I was inside doing my chores. I went outside to tell them I was done, and they were just..."

Lady Illosovich looked down at her silver cup and look a sip of wine. "I see, a grave loss." She look another sip, draining the cup. "Well, then, you must take their place. Sit down, human."

I blinked. That was SO NOT part of the plan. I gulped. Alexander spoke in a soft voice. "Lady, it would be a disgrace to let a human sit at the table for vampires--"

"Her Masters are dead, she belongs to me," Lady Illosovich said in a cool voice. Her stone gray eyes slid to me for a moment. "Sit down, human."

The only empty seat was beside Alexander. Thaddeus spoke up. "My fair Lady, she should sit beside me, seeing the bad blood between her and Alexander."

Lady Illosovich sighed, then nodded. I gratefully took the empty seat beside Thad. He seemed like a pretty okay guy, even if he did sport a pair of fangs. He gave me a friendly smile, one that made him look much more human, and the look in his eyes made it seem like he knew a little too much. His eyebrows rose, just slightly, before he deliberately look a long sip of his wine. I gawked at him. He winked, giving me an ear-to-ear grin.

I smiled just slightly and sat at my seat, not touching the food that was placed before me or sipping on the white wine, mostly because I had drugged half of it with that serum and I didn't know if it was human-friendly or not.

It went on like that for an hour or so. Thad's dark gold eyes repeatedly asked me when it was going to happen. I sneezed, my little signal, then ducked under the table. The fire alarm sprinklers came on, tinted red. I heard growls, my scent was gone thanks to the blood, and some sounds I didn't hear when Adrian and Elizabeth had changed. There was some tearing, some roars, Thad sat with me under the table. When I tried to peek out, he put a hand on my shoulder.

"Not the smartest thing to do right now," he advised. "So, how do we change back?"

Then there were some screams starting, the change. "How did you know?"

Thad grinned again. "I have a little bit of a mind reader. I'm a bit more sensitive than some people."

I nodded. "Cool. So, the serum was in the wine and some of the food, all you have to do is bite yourself."

He looked down at him arm. "Well, okay." He bit himself. He paused after a little while, licking blood odd of his lips. "When--Ach!" he groaned and fell back, gasping for breath. He look less time then some others. He finally sat up, looking at me. "So? Do I look good?" Thad grinned at me.

I tried not to laugh, but a choked little giggle came out. "Yeah, you look nice with a tan. How old are you, anyway, when you got changed?"

He shrugged. "Fifteen."

I nodded. "Cool." I noticed how everybody was yelling in normal voiced now. "I think they're done."

I poked my head out and looked at all the humans. Some were dead on the ground, the really old ones, while others were running around, freaking out, some were yelling in joy.

"Hey!" I called out. Nobody noticed.

Thad put an arm on my shoulder. "Let me handle this." Then, yelling, he said, "Hey, SHUT THE HELL UP!"

They all shut the hell up. This guy worked wonders. I gave him a silent look of thanks, then said to the crowd. "Congratulations! You're human! Have a nice life!" I started to walk out, close behind. "You need some new clothes?" I asked him. He was covered in the red-tinted water.

Thad looked down at his shirt. "Oh, yeah. Thanks. So is this what happened to Elizabeth and Adrian?"

I nodded. "Yep. My brother needed a couple of subjects to test his latest breakthrough on, and they were there."

"Nice," he murmured. "How did he come up with this cure?"

I shook my head. "No clue. I asked him once, and didn;t understand a word that came out of his mouth. You have to ask him yourself."

He laughed and put an arm around my shoulder. "Okay, then. Seems I'm going to have to meet some new people."

I laughed. "Oh, yeah. We're your welcoming party to this little thing called humanity!"

A few days later, all of us were sitting on the huge living room of the mansion. Miley, Teagan, and Mariah were all in their own little posse. Danny and Carmen were like brother and sister, always playing with each other and close as could be. Elizabeth and Thad were close--I told her he was only two years older and that she should go for it. She had blushed. Jax was his same old self, always raking samples from the ex-vampires of our group and seeing if there were any signs of side effects. So far, nothing.

Adrian and I were dating, which was nothing out of the ordinary, but we were more like a Mom and a Dad than really just dating. Carmen was responsible for us being so adult and not making stupid decisions.

So, everybody was hanging out outside the mansion, enjoying the sixty degree weather. Spring was fast approaching.

I noticed something on one of the trees. "Hey, guys!" I yelled behind me. "Look at this!"

Adrian was the first to come over, Carmen on his hip. "Yeah?"

I pointed to one of the trees. There was a little bloom on it, but one I'd never seen before. There were six little petals on the outside, red, yellow, green, purple, black, and blue, then three on the inside, pink, gray, and teal. It was so pretty.

"I guess something good came from the virus," Miley murmured. I kissed her on the forehead, then hugged Teagan and Mariah.

"Hey, we all got a huge family! More than one good thing came from it!" Elizabeth said atrociously. She came over and put her arms around me waist, hugging me. I picked up Danny and set him on my free hip.

I looked at the flower one more time. "Maybe there's hope for the humans after all," I murmured.

Danny looked at me. "There's always hope."

Carmen stared at the flower. "And then there's nothing you move along, just like you always would."
