Move Along... 27
Even when your hope is gone, move along. I've kept that in my head for years. Ever since the outbreak.

Marijah A-Hm. I might get to think about that in the next few chapters. Thanks for the reminder. ;)
Emily Morgan-Lol. Many thanks.
Bethany Fellows-Lol. That would be awesome, but how do I know who you even are...? You could be some scary homosidal/serial killer person! Lol. Or, if you are a normal chick, you'd probably laugh at me when you saw me. My writing is a lot better and cooler than I am. Secret life of the Tennessean writer, my friend. Lol, but if you're on Gaia, I'm Buzzle_Bee_123. Go crazy.
Lol X-Thanks!
Emily Gree-Lol. Naughty girl. Shame!
Dattera-Lol.
Xara-Um, I'm not sure hugs are entirely possible with the whole computer problem. Sorry, chika. But thanks, I appreciate the enthusiasm.
Sapna-Meh, I go to bed thinking of scenes for my stories. It's common. Don't worry. And, thanks. Nice to know someone thinks that. :)

The next morning, I woke up with someone curled up on my stomach. Like a cat. I freaked out, Carmen was snoring softly, and poked Adrian in the arm. He blinked and smiled at me, then noticed what was sleeping on my stomach. He chuckled and grinned at me.
"I see someone got lonely," he whispered.
I giggled, which made my stomach move. Carmen woke up, her hair completely up one way that made her look hilarious. Adrian and I both laughed when she just shook her head, it fell back into place naturally, and wiped her eye.
I sat up and noticed something. "Oh, good, the pillow's still here."
Adrian sat up. "Marshmallow dream, huh?"
I nodded, smiling, then picked Carmen up, cradling her, and struggled to get over Adrian. It was awkward, and I had one of those blushing moments were I was straddling his legs, but I managed to hop over him and walk into the kitchen. Elizabeth walked in as I started the tea, and she stopped at the door.
Elizabeth blinked. "You know, it's easy to see the future when you look like that," she told me before she sat on a stool next to the counter. I set Carmen down next to her and started to put in some Pop Tarts.
"Okay, so how many and what kind?" I asked, looking between the girls.
"Strawberry, two," Elizabeth said.
"Fudge, two," Carmen said.
I picked out the two different cases and put one of each type on the toaster, then started to pour them each some tea. I remembered to add sugar at the last possible minute before I served it to them.
Carmen took it right away. Elizabeth sniffed it, then tasted it timidly. She tilted her head to the side before she look a longer gulp. "Yum," she murmured.
I rolled my eyes and poured my own cup, sipping lightly. "See how tasty human food is when you don't crave plasma?"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "So, I know you're a little like me, Carter, and I know you don't take hits like these lightly." She set down her now empty cup and rubbed her hands together enthusiastically. "So, what's the plan? A revenge scheme? Plot? I know you're coming up with one."
I looked down, filled up her cup with some more tea, and got the Pop Tarts out of the toaster, loading two more in and putting each of the ready ones on a separate plate. I handed them to each girl. Carmen--who had long ago finished her tea--bit into hers enthusiastically. Elizabeth had just taken a sip, and grimaced when she but into the strawberry tart. "Yeah, bitter and sweet don't go well together. My fail there. But... how did the vampires start, anyway?"
She blinked and looked at her tea. She ate the rest of it before taking a sip. Even though she was a teenager again, she had about, I'm guessing, five hundred or so years of growing up. She was still the Elizabeth I knew under all that bright exterior, and she would always carry that little scar of being a vampire with her until she was dead. All the same, she was practically my sister. Elizabeth finally looked up at me, sighed, and started, "They came just a while before we were changed, and I'm not quite sure..." She shook her head. "The first man who started this was a scientist. He believed if blood would keep you alive or kill you--our time was where, if you were sick, you could drain the bad blood, so there's your example--then enough good blood would keep you alive forever." She shook her head, remembering. "He tried this on a local, his teeth were all fangs, not like ours now, and he was a cannibal. He just--bit where he knew the blood was. Then, that man changed, and he was the one who bit Theodore... then Theodore changed me..." she saw me expression. "What?"
I blinked, thrown off. "I was waiting for you to be--well, kind of loopy. You know, spin around in circles and mourn over him. Like you used to."
She gave me a small smile. "It was puppy love from my side, Carter. I was so young..." she blinked and shook her head, grinning. "Well, I still am young. But he didn't give me any affections from his side, and I was some lovesick schoolgirl. Well, girls really didn't attend school, then. Father taught me most of the stuff I knew." She paused and took a small sip of tea. "Adrian told me."
My heart thudded in my chest. "Told you what?"
Elizabeth gave me a sad smile. "About the affairs." She saw my fallen face. "I realize how you feel, and I wasn't really in the best state to prove otherwise, but my vision of him is gone. He's dead, I'm a human--teenager, is that what you call them?" I nodded. "Ah, yes, a human teenager." She shrugged. "I've been mourning his death over him forever and a day, so now I figure I should celebrate my rebirth."
I reached across the counter and hugged her. "I'm glad. I didn't know the guy, but he sounded like a real ass."
She laughed, a louder one than I've ever heard from her as a vampire. She did truly seem better. "Now that I remember it, he was, actually. I thought he was playing hard to get, and I was honestly too desperate to care." She shrugged. "But he's dirt anyway, and I'm sure the worms enjoyed eating his eyes."
Something suddenly snapped into place for me. "Oh my--how could I not see it?" I threw up my hands. "I'm so stupid! Have I been BLIND this whole time?"
Elizabeth and Carmen were both giving me weird looks. "Wizzy, is Mommy okay?" I heard Carmen stage-whisper to Elizabeth.
"The dogs! They hadn't contracted the disease! It wasn't even a disease at all! They just ate a dead vampire!" I smacked myself on the forehead.
"Dogs...?" Elizabeth repeated, then shook her head. "Never mind, so, what's the plan."
I smiled wickedly. "How do you know I have a plan?"
She looked at me. Carter always has a plan, it's just whether she acts on it or not."
I smiled again, this one just plain evil. "Well, yeah, I do have a plan."
