Mouth sores or canker sores or mouth ulcers are small blisters that appear in the mouth and could be quite painful. How to Cure Mouth Sores - Home Remedies

Saline Water Mouthwash
A saline water mouthwash is the best known cure for mouth sores. Just add a teaspoon of salt into a glass of lukewarm water and swish it around your mouth a couple of times, thrice a day. This will help heal and get rid of canker sores quickly. Mouth sores are contagious and the salt water prevents it from spreading to the other areas of the mouth.

Aloe Vera Gel
Dab some aloe vera gel on the mouth sore and let it stay for around 10 minutes and then rinse it off. Aloe vera soothes the mouth ulcer and aids its healing process. It also provides relief from the burning sensation and pain associated with canker sores.

Herbal Mouthwash
Prepare a herbal mouthwash by mixing a tablespoon of coriander seeds with a glass of water. Boil and strain the solution, and swish it around your mouth, thrice or four times a day.

Dietary Supplements
Consumption if vitamin C, folic acid and zinc supplements can aid the healing process and provide quick relief.

Benzoin Tincture
It is essential that no further trauma or injury is caused to the healing mouth ulcer. Therefore, to protect the ulcer, you must coat it with a tincture of benzoin.

Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide has strong antiseptic properties and can prevent the mouth sores from spreading. Apply a layer of dilute hydrogen peroxide solution to the mouth sore, to cure it and reduce the pain. You can dilute the hydrogen peroxide, by mixing one part of hydrogen peroxide with one part of pure mineral water.

Baking Soda
Use a paste made by mixing baking soda and water to coat the ulcer or use baking soda as a mouth wash to cure mouth sores.

Medications

Generally, medicines like antihistamines and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed to cure mouth sores. Corticosteroid preparations that mainly contain hydrocortisone, hemisuccinate or triamcinolone acetonide are prescribed for pain and inflammation relief associated with mouth sores. Topical medications like debacterol and mouthwashes like tetracycline suspension liquid are also effective in curing canker sores.

The treatments mentioned above should be used only after ascertaining the cause of the mouth sore. You must also take added precaution against the development of mouth ulcers by watching what you eat and your oral hygiene habits.
