Being the mother of the groom, it may not be your day entirely, but it sure is an important day for you. So, it is necessary to dress appropriately and to find that perfect mother of the groom attire. However, keep in mind that your dress or gown should not overpower the mother of the bride dress. The mother of the groom wear could be anything from and elegant gown, to a pant suit or any other kind of formal wear. Make sure to wear one that suits you and your personal style best, one you are comfortable wearing and one that compliments the theme of the wedding.

For a very formal wedding you could wear a floor-length gown. For a wedding that is semi-formal, you could wear a street-length dress with corsages. If the wedding is an informal one, you could choose to wear a pant suit or a 'Sunday dress'. As far as the colors are concerned, you can choose from the traditional beige, to a pastel pink, purple or peach. Colors to avoid include white, black, tan, off-white, etc. Make sure the color of your attire goes well with that of the wedding and there is no need to play yourself down unnecessarily. You can shop for mother of the groom dresses at departmental stores, boutiques and bridal salons.

The accessories and jewelry that you would be wearing should obviously compliment the mother of the groom attire. You should coordinate the heels that you would be wearing with your dress, it should also be comfortable enough if you would have to stand for long. The earrings, watch, bracelet and necklace should be light and subtle and keep it minimal if possible.
