Most People Have Sensitive or Dry Skin

Many of us think we are the minority when it comes to having sensitive or dry skin. The truth in a recent study shows that roughly 56% of women have sensitive skin and 45% of us have dry skin. This is important to know that these circumstances are very normal for women. After hearing about this report, I started to feel better knowing that I am not alone.

What does it really mean to have sensitive skin? If your skin gets irritated very quickly then it is considered sensitive skin. There are many factors involved in sensitive skin such as the environment or hereditary attributes. Many of us are just allergic to certain ingredients in our creams and lotions. The physical signs of sensitive skin include irritation, redness, and swelling. Either way these symptoms are very undesirable and unattractive,

Now that we know that almost half of us have sensitive skin, we can try some basic things to help our sensitive skin. The key to having healthy skin is not being stressed or controlling the stress in our lives. It has shown that stress actually interferes the body’s ability to repair the skin. Your hormones are then influenced causing the body to release chemicals, which in turn can lead to breakouts. Other negative effects of stress include weakening the antioxidant defenses. Overall stress in not only bad for mental reasons, but can really affect your skin.

Basic cares of your sensitive skin should include:

• Not using scented creams or perfumed lotions.
• Very little or no use of exfoliants.
• Using warm water to wash your face and don’t over wash your face.
• Cold weather can cause your skin to be dry, have protective wear in different climates.
• Use moisturizer and sunscreen daily.

Other simple things of using makeup that are oil free. Using the wrong makeup can easily clog pores. It is pertinent that we keep the pores from getting clogged. Make sure we are reading ingredients of products in our creams, soaps, and lotions.

Some of the basic conditions in general overall well being of our skin and body include cutting down on our sugar intake. Changing from coffee with caffeine to no caffeine. Or better yet, removing caffeine and alcohol from our diet will really increase the glow in your skin. Regular exercise and eating nutritional meals instead of crash diets can really help your skin and body. Obviously we know stress plays and important factor. We know that good products that don’t have to be expensive will help our skin.

Now that we know it is normal to have sensitive or dry skin, we must make adjustments to help our body along to looking and feeling healthy. Simple changes in our lifestyle can have a vast improvement in the way we feel and look. The key is start to making these changes gradually and over time we will see the difference
