With summer around the corner, people want to get back in shape, so that they can flaunt their bodies. Some choose to follow fad diets, whereas bursts of exercises is the option for others. However, both these methods are not the right way to lose weight. The most effective and long-lasting way to lose weight fast is indeed intake of fewer calories and burning of more calories. When you want to lose weight making too many changes to your diet and lifestyle is not recommended, as the body likes slow changes in terms of food and exercise. In case you have not exercised in years, you should not torture your body by running for miles either on the treadmill or otherwise. Same is the case with diets. Diets which severely restrict calories or which have only certain types of food allowed leads to vitamin deficiency and deficiency of important nutrients required for the body. If you are wondering what is an effective way to lose weight in a week, I have a simple question to ask you, how long did you take to pile on the weight? It certainly has been more than a week, then isn't it unnatural of ourselves to expect that we lose weight in a week?

Now let's take one step at a time towards our weight loss goal. Remember, there are no short cuts and whatever short cuts there are will not give you sustained results.

Water
All of us are addicted to beverages like tea, coffee, cola and other aerated drinks and have forgotten the best beverage given to us by nature. You may be consuming 8 to 12 glasses liquid in different forms, but your body needs water and not these liquids which are actually having negative impact on your body. The body is able to flush the toxins and also increase fat metabolism when it gets water in sufficient quantities.

Meals at Regular Intervals & Compulsory Breakfast
To lose weight, many people often skip their meals, but little do they realize, that their metabolism is affected. At the same time, the next meal they have after skipping is often large in size and they end up eating all that comes their way, as they are hungry. It is important to have meals at regular intervals, with three big meals and two mini meals; however, you will want to watch out for the number of calories which you consume for all your meals. Breakfast is a meal, which you will not want to miss at any cost. It is rightly said, "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a commoner and dinner like a pauper". Reducing the calorie intake towards the end of the day goes a long way in shedding off the pounds.

Exercise
The most effective way to lose weight with exercise is something we have heard time and again, but we are very lazy and do not really implement it in our daily schedule. Exercises help in increasing metabolism. Strength training is also important in the weight loss process and it tone along with cardiovascular exercises. Exercises with weight help in building lean muscles, which increases metabolism all through the day, after you have long finished your workout. Among other exercise that aids weight loss is running and jogging is an option which does indeed give good results.

An important tip is: NOT to be harsh with yourself from day one. It may not be the most pleasant thing to do, but do it you will have to. It will take some time for your body to get adjusted to the new changes. You can vary your diet in such a way, that you are not bored of eating the same thing over and over again, till all you want to do is run to have a pizza. Take it slow, but be diligent with it.
