More Than A Friendship But Not Right Now

What is this?
A Friendship -
This I know, but then a kiss?

What happened?
Everything so rapid

It was fine,
before your lips touched mine.
Don't you agree - It was so divine,
before that moment in time?

What do you want
from me?
A Friendship with a little bit of sexuality?

That can't be so - we both know
Things move so fast,
when they should've been taken slow

My heart's aflutter
but as you, I hold back -
I know at any point you could release me
and return to your ex
that treated you bad.

I know the feelings are there,
you said you still love her -
you do still care.

So I'm gonna go away now -
attempting to take back
what we had,

I am glad I met you,
for I am no longer sad.

Just a little frustrated
things turned out the way they had.

This weekend was great
we had a real fun time, I'd say so -

I heard when my friend asked you
if I was your girlfriend,
and you replied with an "I don't know."

Really? You seemed to know
for sure last night on the phone
why didn't you response with just
a simple "no?"

I'm confused by your response,
but I'm glad we talked about it last night
I think you like me and I like you too,
we both know the cure for this -
out of mind, out of sight.

So with that said,
our time together will be less
I must confess.
God knows I don't need to be involved
in another mess.

This time, let's keep it clean,
but don't let the dust settle -
take it down a notch
to a lower level.

I hope one day you'll speak of how you really felt
Then I'll share with you how you made my heart melt
Either way, I'll tell you, even if we part -
fireworks or not, you lit my life up from the start.

Everything will be okay,
even when we go our separate ways -
For what we've shared together
to God
I'll forever praise
