Moms On a Budget : Bringing up Baby without Breaking the Bank

Babies cost a lot. Not even counting the cost of the medical bill, you would be startled by the sheer cost you have raising one tiny tiny child. He wishes six to 10 diapers, each day, formula ( unless he's breast-feeding ), little wipes for his bum, powder, lotions, special soaps and little booties. To be truthful, it sounds like an old man making an attempt to trick a very extended spa vacation out of kind strangers. And don't even get me going about the furniture you'll have to get for this kid before he even shows up!

You can reduce or eliminate some of the expense of raising baby if you know where to shop and where to find the best deals. Some of best tips are so plain that people have a tendency to forget them, while others are just a little out there. Try these :

one. Shop used.
That' right. Your baby doesn't care if his crib is hand made expressly for him out of virgin lumber. He could not care less that talented artisans lovingly carved the history of his folks on the headboard. He just would like a dry diaper, a full tummy and quiet time for a little shut-eye. Buying a used crib doesn't make you a useless parent. So long as it conforms to current safety rules and is clean and sturdy, why not? The same applies for other baby furniture, some baby clothes and other items that you might or might not especially need.

two. Shop smart.
OK, you do not have to have a crib, bassinet, cradle, playpen, changing table and dresser for your baby. In truth, many , many babies do well without half this stuff. Buy a crib which will eventually convert to a child bed. Skip the bassinet and cradle ; they look lovely but baby will grow beyond them in two weeks. Likewise the changing table because trust me, you are not going to hold baby's soggy behind up the stairs, to his room and then change him. You may eventually change Junior wherever the leg sweep takes him down. ( I am teasing, no one should leg sweep their baby ) Playpens could be OK, but some babies figure out the way to climb out and even smarter babies can work out how to put the side down. A used dresser is completely fine, especially since baby will change to baby the Explorer in a matter of time.

3. Shop even smarter.
Shopping on the net can save you not only time, but money too. If you know the best online places to search for the item that you need, or better if you have coupons, coupon code or other methods to get discounts on baby products.
