Learn about the causes of molluscum contagiosum in order to provide yourself with both preventative steps as well as a natural treatment.
There are those who always say that Molluscum Contagiosum treatment is not possible simply because the virus that causes the disease can never be completely removed from the system and keeps coming back to haunt again and again. While that is correct, but nevertheless, the symptoms of the disease can definitely be treated. Yes, molluscum can be treated to cure the symptoms of this virus attack.

There are various Molluscum Contagiosum treatment options and some of them are discussed here.

Curettage: An effective though painful method in which electrodessication is used to cut the growths. When someone opts for this option it usually comes with a cream to reduce the pain.

The Iodine Solution Treatment: The papules are first dried and then they are covered by a tape and 50% salicylic acid plaster. It has to be done on a continuous basis everyday, just after taking a bath. After about a week, all that is needed is the iodine solution.

Cryosurgery: In this line of Molluscum Contagiosum treatment, dry ice or liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the skin growths. Apply this over a period of two to three weeks and the lesions begin to go away. This is a very popular and efficient way to beat the disease.

Cantharidin Treatment: Yet another Molluscum Contagiosum treatment option. But it is a bit inconvenient because the solution needs to be applied and then kept in the skin for at least 4 hours. Be careful to not make the solution wash away before that. But the solution cannot be applied on the face so the lesions there remain. At least 3 weeks of treatment is necessary.

Evisceration: It involves using a sharp object such as a glass, pin, scalpel or something else to eviscerate the core to get rid of the umbilicated core. This is the most common home solution that is practiced by hundreds across the world, but it comes with risks as well. So do not do it if you have no one to guide and are not fairly certain of what is being done. And it is a strict no-no for kids anyway.

Potassium Hydroxide Treatment: Researchers are now saying that potassium hydroxide can also treat the Molluscum Contagiosum disease. Though effective, but they also feel that this line of treatment might come with several complications.

Laser Therapy: Many people prefer the use of laser for their treatment. Laser therapy is used mostly when the genital areas are affected with the virus.

Tape Stripping Methodology: Adhesive tapes are used here to cure the ailment. Molluscum Contagiosum treatment involves covering up the affected skin with a tape to eliminate the epidermis of the lesions. But it is important to not use the same tape all the time because this might spread the virus from one eruption to another.

Though there are many Molluscum Contagiosum treatment options, but perhaps the best line of treatment can be going for natural products that have been developed with herbal solutions. Such products can effectively treat Molluscum Contagiosum quickly and remove the symptoms.
