Mold Spores

Mold spores may be regarded as the by-products of mold of many types. These substances are known to be the most common causes of indoor pollution.
As mentioned, mold spores can be regarded to be the by products of mold - a type of fungi that causes a superficial growth on surfaces that are decaying or damp. These spores are single-celled asexual reproductive bodies, that trigger multiple allergy symptoms in humans and animals alike. Apart from this, they are also responsible for destroying paper products, fabrics and other organic items. Although there are various kinds of molds, the most severe of them is known to be black mold; it is toxic in nature, and may cause the condition toxic mold syndrome. This is because black mold carry mycotoxins. These substances are so small that they can become airborne and get inhaled by humans. However, it should also be known that toxic substances are not constantly produced. It depends upon the temperature, humidity levels, and on the surface that the mold is growing on. Also, black mold spores are heavier when compared to others. So they cannot stay airborne for a long time. But this does not overshadow the dangers of the spores. So the best way to deal with such problems is to get rid of the source that is producing them.

How to Get Rid of Mold Spores
  • The most popular remedy for getting rid of mold is plain white vinegar. Simply fill an empty spray bottle with the solution, and give a good spray on every inch of the surface that has been affected by the mold growth. Once you are done with it, get a small scrubber and dip it in a soapy solution. Start scrubbing the surface gently, and when you are sure that the mold growth has been removed from the area, rinse it with the soapy water. Use a clean washcloth to make the surface dry.
  • Another simple remedy is the use of tea tree oil. It is antifungal by nature. Spray some of the oil on the surface and wait for 2 - 3 hours. Thereafter, clean the surface with soapy solution, and wipe off to keep it dry. This method if used regularly, would provide a great deal of help in preventing the mold growth from recurring.
  • This method that I am going to mention is especially helpful for managing black spores in house. This method involves a mixture that contains vinegar, water, boric acid and hydrogen peroxide, in proportions of 2 parts, 4 parts, 1 part and 2 parts respectively. Ensure that you have mixed the solution well. Drench the mold-affected surface with it and wait for sometime, let's say about an hour. Wear a pair of rubber gloves and scrub the area to get rid of the mold colony. Rinse off with a detergent and water solution, and clean with a washcloth to finish the task.
To conclude, the above remedies may not be of much help to manage a mold infestation that is way too severe. So in such cases, you might want to seek for professional help as soon as possible. After all, it is your health and that of your family. Take care!
